Flying is a move that is related to jumping. It lets you float in the air for a while. Enemies such as Fly Guy and Paragoomba can fly.

Also the hero of a game can fly. This feature first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. When Mario, Luigi, Peach or Toad stole Pidgit's magic carpet to defeat this pesky bird, can ride on the carpet, can fly on it. In Super Mario Bros. 3, when Mario picked up a Super Leaf, Mario turns into Raccoon Mario and is able to fly. An related item is the Tanooki Suit in the same game. With this one, Mario can turn into Tanooki Mario. He is than not only able to fly, but can also turn in a statue. In Super Mario World, Mario can pick up a Cape Feather to turn into Cape Mario, that also can fly. When Mario ride on a Blue Yoshi, and he ate a Koopa Shell- or, alternately, if he's riding any colored Yoshi and either has the Yoshi eat a Blue Shell or grab Yoshi's Wings, the dinosaur gains his Winged Yoshi form and is also able to fly. Mario can also steal Lakitu's Cloud, and that makes him also able to fly. In Super Mario 64, Mario can pick up a Wing Cap, he's again able to fly, and this time, first to use a Triple Jump. In the DS version, it was a Feather. Only in the VS mode of this version, can every character fly (But are Yoshis). In Super Mario Land 2, Mario can pick a Carrot to turn into Rabbit Mario, which can float safety to ground after jumping. In Wario: Master of Disguise, Wario can turn into Wicked Wario, and blow into the Microphone to fly. In Super Mario Galaxy, When Mario uses the Red Star, he must jump and Star Spin in midair to start flying for a limited time. Template:Jump
