What kind of effect does the gold shell have when its thrown underwater? Does it home in or not? Toad's sprite in Excitebike: Bun Bun Mario Battle wow it's Kiryu (TC)

I think it doesn't. Reshiram.pngSupermariofan14Artwork of the Generation V Pokemon, Zekrom
It looked like it did for me. I'm pretty sure it does, yeah. I watched it follow an eel round a corner. Avengah 08:00, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

The Gold Shell in New Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart World appears to be a different object from the Gold Shells in other games. It has a different function, and as of Kart World it has a different name too ("Coin Shell"). I think it should be split. jan Misali (talk · contributions) 13:35, April 7, 2025 (EDT)

Let's wait until the game is released first, please? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:55, April 9, 2025 (EDT)
This merge is comparable to the Mario Kart Lightning Cloud and Thunder Cloud merge. The Thunder Cloud (MKGP) and Lightning Cloud (the one from MKWii) look the same but are differently named and function differently from each other, yet they are merged since the identical appearances alone is enough to consider them the same item. The Gold Shell from MKGPDX and Coin Shell from MKWorld look exactly the same so I'd argue they should still be merged after the game's release. -- Pizza Master (talk)
