Badge (Super Mario Bros. Wonder)

Badges in Super Mario Bros. Wonder are collectable and equippable items that are found from completion of a Badge Challenge or bought from Poplin Shops. Prince Florian equips these items to assist the players in levels. Players can equip a badge before starting a course or losing a life. "Prince's Choice" randomizes the badge chosen, which can be selected by pressing on the Badges selection screen.[1]
The first badge, Parachute Cap, is obtained from Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau. The final badge, Sound Off, is unlocked from first completing the final level in the game, The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon, then entering the Poplin house WONDER?. The badge replaces the default sound effects in the game with voiced a cappella sound effects. If players obtain every badge, the game adds a medal to the save file.
List of badges
There are twenty-four badges, including nine Action Badges that add new abilities to the characters, eleven Boost Badges grant passive benefits to players, and four Expert Badges, which grant an advanced skill intended for more experienced players.[2][3]

Trivia
- Many of the badges are similar to or reference power-ups and abilities in previous Super Mario titles:
- Parachute Cap functions similar to many gliding power-ups and abilities, such as Peach's Floating Jump ability originating from Super Mario Bros. 2, Raccoon Mario, Tanooki Mario, Bunny Mario, Cape Mario, Flying Squirrel Mario, and Peachette.
- Floating High Jump functions similar to Luigi's Scuttle.
- Boosting Spin Jump functions as an airborne Double Jump and resembles Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2's Spin Jump.
- Wall-Climb Jump functions similar to a glitch from Super Mario Bros.
- Crouching High Jump is the same ability as the Power Squat Jump from Super Mario Bros. 2, as well as being similar to the Backward Somersault.
- Dolphin Kick grants the user better swimming speed and control similar to the Frog Suit and Penguin Suit.
- Timed High Jump grants the user the ability to perform a higher jump if they time their jump as they touch the ground, similar to the consecutive Double Jumps and Triple Jumps in many of the 3D Super Mario games and the New Super Mario Bros. series.
- Fast Dash functions similar to the Super Dash in Super Mario 3D World.
- Grappling Vine functions similar to the capture ability for Yoshi in Super Mario Odyssey, where in that game, Yoshi can use his tongue to grapple to walls.
- Safety Bounce is similar to Peachette's ability to survive a fall into dangerous terrain by jumping away in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
- Spring Feet is similar to Spring Mario from Super Mario Galaxy, forcing the player to jump infinitely, and granting a higher jump when timed correctly.
