Solid Snake
Template:SSB Infobox Template:LLQuote
Solid Snake is the main character of Konami's Metal Gear series of games. In the games, he is constantly given the job of deprogramming the dangerous weapon, called Metal Gear. His main choice of weapon is heavy explosives from the Real World. He was the first third-party character to be confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii.
Snake's appearance in the first trailer was a surprise to fans primarily because third-party characters (those not belonging to Nintendo or any of its second party affiliates) had never been present in the series thus far and also because most of the Metal Gear games are rated "M". He appears in Brawl as he did in Metal Gear Solid 2.
Snake fights using hand-to-hand combat, and use a variety of explosives, rather than rely on firearms. Snake is voiced by Akio Ohtsuka in the Japanese version, and by David Hayter in the English version.
Codec Conversation when fighting another Snake
- Snake: Colonel, it's me! I'm fighting myself!
- Colonel: Snake, what's going on out there?! Could it be...? Has the "Les Enfants Terribles" project really come this far?!
- Snake: It's more than that. He's got my moves, my gear... It's like looking in a mirror.
- Colonel: Do you think they collected data on you and created another Snake...?
- Snake: He's got the same build, too. Creepy. But his Sneaking Suit is a different color. And his tactics are slightly different.
- Colonel: Interesting. So even if you're evenly matched in power, your fighting styles will make a big difference. You've faced tougher odds in the past, Snake. Don't let this impostor beat you!!
Role in the Subspace Emissary
Template:Spoiler Snake finds his way aboard the Halberd and starts looking around the area. When he hears a sound, Snake quickly hides in his box as Lucario and Meta Knight pass by him. However, Lucario suddenly stops, and using the Aura, sees through the box and sees Snake. He takes the box off him, and Snake is shocked. They were about to battle as soon as Lucario saw Primids coming with his Aura. Lucario then tells Snake to follow him and they form a party. Soon they reach a room in which there are two cages with the trophies of Peach and Zelda just after they see that the purple Shadow Bugs go to them and make dark versions of the two. The team fights the evil princesses and defeats them. The good Princesses are taken out of the cages they are kept in. (Interestingly, his box was seen earlier in The Research Facility).
Meta Knight and Lucario leave and Snake tells the two girls to stay where they are. The princesses start there wondering what to do, so then, Zelda turns into Sheik and decides to follow Snake. Peach follows Sheik. They reach the top of the Halberd, where they meet up with Snake and get Fox to join the party. By then the three (Lucario, Meta Knight and Snake) guys went to the engine to find out that there are a lot of Mr. Game & Watch piloting the ship. Snake runs and throws them all out the window. Snake and the other two jump out the window, only to see Shadow Bugs create Duon. Falco then comes in.
Snake, Lucario, Meta Knight, Peach, Zelda, Fox and Falco fight the monster and after defeat, they see a Mr. Game & Watch trophy. After Peach revives it, Mr. Game & Watch join the party. Later, Snake ends up fighting Tabuu along with everyone else in the game. Template:Endspoiler
Trophy Information from Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Solid Snake
A former member of FOXHOUND with an IQ of 180 and mastery of six languages. He's an infiltration specialist whose ability to carry out missions under any conditions has made him a legend. He's saved the world three times from the threat of bipedal, nuclear-armed mechs called Metal Gear. Currently he's working with the anti-Metal Gear group known as Philanthropy.
Grenade Launcher
Snake's Final Smash. He grabs a ladder hanging from a helicopter and appears in the foreground, then fires a grenade launcher at foes. The grenades explode on impact and damage anyone in the vicinity. Each clip holds six grenades--empty one, and Snake reloads. He can fire a total of twelve shots, but with such limited time, it's better to shoot 'em all.
Iroquois Pliskin
A SEAL member who infiltrates the Big Shell to suppress a terrorist group threatening to destroy it. He joins forces with Raiden, a new recruit in the special-forces unit called FOXHOUND. Disguised in order to secretly infiltrate the Big Shell, Pliskin is actually Solid Snake.
Smash Taunt
By doing a split-second down taunt, Snake will start his Codec Conversation with Mei Ling, Otacon, Slippy, or Colonel Campbell.
Trivia
- In Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, a remake of Metal Gear Solid for the Nintendo GameCube, figurines of Mario and Yoshi can be found in Otacon's office. Shooting Mario will not only generate the original 1-UP sound, but restore the player's life. Shooting Yoshi only lets out his "Yoshi" signature.
