Old Letter

The Old Letter is a letter written to Admiral Bobbery by Scarlette on her deathbed. She wrote the letter when she became ill while Bobbery was at sea. Scarlette gave it to Podley with instructions for him to pass it on to Bobbery should she die. Upon seeing how devastated Bobbery was by Scarlette's death, however, Podley could not bring himself to give it to him. When Mario visits Podley after being told by Bobbery to get lost, Podley explains to Mario the sad story of Bobbery. Regretting his decision not to give the letter to Bobbery when he had the chance, Podley gives it to Mario to let him handle the delivery. Mario gives the letter to Bobbery, who reads it to find that Scarlette's wish was not to blame himself for her death nor to give up sailing. This reinvigorates Bobbery to return to the sea, and he agrees to be the navigator for the S.S. Flavion.

If you're reading this, I must have passed away while you were out to sea... I can only assume that you will blame yourself for it, my sweet Bobbery. Although my life was short, you gave me more than a lifetime's worth of joy. Though you will mourn, I beg that you remember that time, like love, is a tide. You are one with the sea, as you were one with me. Do not lose both your life's loves.
