Template:Minigame-infobox Beach Volley Folly, spelled Beach Volley Folley in Mario Party 4 and known as Beach Volleyball in Mario Party 5, is a one- or two-player minigame found in the Extra Room in Mario Party 4. If the player selects the Ztar, they get to play this minigame. The game pits two teams of two against each other in a beach volleyball match. The player(s) must work their way to the top, facing six other teams along the way. If the Battle Mode is completed, Free Mode is unlocked, allowing up to four people to play together. The Birthday Cake is also unlocked and placed in the Minigame Room of the Present Room. The Mario Party 4 version of the minigame is also included in the minigame compilation title, Mario Party: The Top 100.

The game also appears in Mario Party 5. This version of the game featured different types of volleyballs for the players to use:

In the Mario Party 4 version, the game ends when one side reaches five points. The player can also choose between 10-20 points in the Mario Party 5 version of this game and 7-21 points in The Top 100 version.

In Mario Party 4, the normal cast of characters is playable alongside characters exclusive to this mode. The exclusive playable characters in Beach Volley Folly are Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Boo, Bowser, and Koopa Kid. They are unlockable characters and are usable only in the Free Mode.

In later variations of Beach Volley Folly, only the playable cast of characters in those respective Mario Party games are usable. For characters that weren't playable in Mario Party 4 in Party Mode but playable in Mario Party 5, they have unique winning and losing poses as well as voices compared to both games.

Trivia

  • If Boo, Toad, or Koopa Kid loses the minigame in Mario Party 5, they make their voice as if the minigame ended in a draw. This trait does not apply to the characters that are playable in Mario Party 4; they simply don't make any sounds.
