Talk:Bros. Item
Merge?
Anyone think we should merge this with Bros. Attacks? Bros. Items are basically the same thing, and this page is pretty small as it is. We could basically copy-and-paste it, with a tiny explanation. Super Eli (talk) 08:37, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- The differences are noteworthy enough for this to warrant its own article. Nightwicked Bowser
- Like what? Super Eli (talk) 08:37, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- They are treated as items in this game unlike every other game. That's pretty much the main reason. Nightwicked Bowser
- They serve the exact same purpose, and could very well be Bros. Attacks. Here, watch.
The concept of Bros. Attacks was replaced with Bros. Items in the sequel, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, which are disposable attacks that can be bought from shops or found in ? Blocks. All Bros. Items can be activated by either bro. Some Bros. Items can be used by only 2 brothers, while some require all 4. The first Bros. Item is given to Baby Mario and Baby Luigi by Toadsworth the Younger in Hollijolli Village when they fight the three Shroobs in the village, with the Green Shell item, and later on the player obtains different kinds of Bros. Items.
Boom. Right here is how you could merge the articles. Super Eli (talk) 08:56, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- Well if you really want to go through with it, set up a proposal then. Nightwicked Bowser
- You know what? I WILL!
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..how do you do that, exactly? Super Eli (talk) 09:02, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- MarioWiki:Proposals#Basic proposal and support/oppose format shows how to do it. Nightwicked Bowser
- And where do I put the proposal? Super Eli (talk) 09:13, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- Create a new section on this page. Nightwicked Bowser
- Got it. Thanks for the help! By the way, how do I make this official? Super Eli (talk) 09:30, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- So what happens if nobody votes? Or if a certain side has more votes than the other? Super Eli (talk) 09:34, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- It's already official, I think if nobody votes the proposal can be extended by another two weeks. If more people vote support, you can carry out what the proposal is for (but not until after the deadline date), and if more people vote oppose, then nothing will happen. Nightwicked Bowser
Merge page with Bros. Attack

Bros. Attacks have been a staple of the Mario and Luigi series for a long time. In Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time, they were replaced with Bros. Items. However, they have never reappeared since then and serve the same purpose as Bros. Attacks. As such, I think it's necessary to merge this page with the main Bros. Attack page, as seen above.

Support
- Super Eli (talk): I support this per my proposal.
- Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) "Bros. Attack" is still used in the context of these in both English and Japanese (and is even the section header in the manuals), and the "consumable item" gimmick is likely just a way to expand on the concept, much like attack pieces were. Given some (the shells and Fire Flowers, for instance) are even shared, it seems even more silly to split these IMO. At the very least, they fill the same niche, and as such having them split is inconvenient. The Command Block being yellow and having a shell on it lends even more credence these are the same concept as the later iterations; in fact, the BIS-onward iteration seems a combination of both previous iterations, using the syrups but still being themed after items rather than the bros' athletics.
Oppose
- Keyblade Master (talk) Per what I said in the section above.
- Archivist Toadette (talk) Per Keyblade Master.
- Waluigi Time (talk) The fact that they are consumable items in this game instead of traditional attacks differentiates them enough in my opinion.
- Scrooge200 (talk) Bros. Items can be bought and sold instead of earning them through Attack Pieces, so I think that makes them different enough. They can stay separate.
- Sdman213 (talk) Per all.
- Ray Trace (talk) People have already said that Bros. Items can be bought and sold, but in addition, Bros. Attacks require SP to use and have their own special items in the form of syrups that players can use to replenish, and it's its own separate stat. Those two distinctions are enough for the article to remain split.
- DarkNight (talk) Per Keyblade Master.
- Superbound (talk) Per all
- ChompworksEngineer (talk) Per all.
Comments
Personally, what I'd do is keep this its own article, but give them a mini-section in the article for Bros. Attacks mentionining how they served as a replacement to them in Partner's in Time, with a "Main Page:" redirect for those looking for more info. ~Camwood777 (talk) 10:22, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- That's pretty much how it is already. Nightwicked Bowser
- Not necessarily. The Bros. Attack article states, and I quote, "The concept of Bros. Attacks was replaced with Bros. Items in the sequel, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, which are disposable attacks that can be bought from shops or found in ? Blocks." That's it. Considering Bros. Attacks and Bros. Items serve the same purpose, Bros. Items should definitely be elaborated on in the Bros. Attack article or merged with the Bros. Attack article. Super Eli (talk) 12:58, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- If they aren't merged, they don't need to be elaborated on in the Bros. Attacks article since they already have their own article here. See MarioWiki:Once and only once. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:09, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
- Actually, there is exactly what Camwood said in the page, a mini-section with a "main article" template linking to the Bros. Items page. And there is really not much else to add to it without violating the page Waluigi Time linked. Nightwicked Bowser
- If they aren't merged, they don't need to be elaborated on in the Bros. Attacks article since they already have their own article here. See MarioWiki:Once and only once. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 13:09, September 17, 2020 (EDT)
