Template:Character-infobox White Mage is a generic character from the Final Fantasy series, appearing in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Mario Sports Mix, which were developed by Square Enix, who also created the Final Fantasy games. She is depicted as an woman that practices White Magic, being calm and a brave heroine. In the Mario games she is depicted as a cheerful person. In Mario Hoops 3-on-3, she is portrayed by Noriko Iwahara, but Bianca Allen takes over the role in Mario Sports Mix.

Mario Hoops 3-on-3

The White Mage can be unlocked by getting a Silver Trophy in the Rainbow Tourney on Normal difficulty.

The White Mage is a technical character, much as Daisy and Peach. She has great speed, but low power. Her special shot is the Holy Shot, based on the Holy Spell from the Final Fantasy series. Her default partners are Black Mage and Ninja, as seen in the Rainbow Cup. Her special shot is unique in physical characteristics: while inside the 3-point line, her shot moves the ball upside, and after a flash, it falls in the hoop. However, while outside the 3-point line, her shot moves the ball into a blue trail, and a member of her team aids to dunk the ball.

The White Mage seen in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 does not cloak her head with her robe's hood, revealing her pink hair and a tiara, a trait not seen in Final Fantasy. As with Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, White Mage, who normally wears a long white robe, receives an outfit change in Mario Hoops 3-on-3.

White Mage uses her Special Shot in Dodgeball.

The White Mage returns in the Wii game, Mario Sports Mix. She maintains the same outfit that she wore in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. Her best stat is technique, while having average speed, and fairly low power. The White Mage, along with Ninja, have the highest stat total among all the playable characters. Once again, her default partners are Ninja and Black Mage. The majority of the glitches on this game involves her. She can be unlocked by clearing the Star Road twice. An alternate method is to complete a certain mission on the Mushroom Cup. She can also be unlocked with 4 Flower Cup wins and a Star Cup victory.

The White Mage's special shot is unique in that her aiming cursor is different. In Basketball and Hockey, the White Mage will summon a ray of light, which briefly knocks out anyone in its path, and then she'll aim for the goal. In Volleyball, the volleyball will land at a random spot; the landing cursor first covers the whole field, and then shrinks to the target position. In Dodgeball, opposing players caught in the ray of light will lose some of their HP.

In Basketball, the White Mage is a moderately fast dunker, and her layup move involves using white magic to send the basketball into the hoop. She can also add a curve to her long range shots. In Volleyball, the White Mage can give her fully charged shots an added curve, but they move slowly. She can also block volleyball shots by creating a barrier over the net. In Dodgeball, the White Mage can repel dodgeball attacks by creating a barrier in front of her. However, the barrier is rendered useless if the dodgeball hits the White Mage from behind, or if the dodgeball is equipped with an item. When trying to save the ball after hitting a character, she summons a circle that resembles her aiming cursor to bring the ball to her. In Hockey, White Mage can use light magic to attack opponents. Her attacks have far range, which can give her an advantage in attacking. Since she has good technique, she can score with ease by using far away shots or using combos.

Physical description

White Mage is an woman that bears a resemblance to Rosalina. She is the same height as Peach, however, she is thinner than her. Her hair is short, and pink colored; she has a bang which obscures her right eye, much like Rosalina. She has green eyes.

Attire

White Mage's usual attire is an large robe, with red triangles in some parts of it, and a hood that obscures part of her head. In the Super Mario games, she appears wearing a small dress, with the White Mage's style in it. Her hood is down, and her head is visible. She also wears a silver tiara with a red jewel at the center.

Alternative Outfits

An alternate costume can be unlocked for White Mage by winning the Rainbow Tourney, in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, on the Hard difficulty with a silver trophy. This alternate costume changes her hair color to purple, and makes the red parts of her skirt, as well as her shoes, slightly darker.

In Mario Sports Mix, an alternate outfit for her can be unlocked by clearing a certain mission on the Flower Cup, clearing the Star Road 5 times, or by using the White Mage 20 times. The alternate outfit depicts the White Mage wearing a pure white outfit, very light blue small dress, white hair, white shoes, white stockings and her small dress has different details. Also, her eye irises are colored red. This makes her look almost like an albino.

White Mage has control of white magic, which are spells that support her allies. She has one attack spell, called Holy, that appears as her special attack in the 'Mario series. The Holy Shot consists of an attack magic that in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 was blue, and in Mario Sports Mix is white. She also has low Power stats. Also in Mario Sports Mix, in Volleyball and Dodgeball, White Mage uses white magic circles to catch the ball. In Volleyball she can use a veil to block the ball.

Trivia

  • Psycho Kamek's robe is in the style of White Mage's.
  • In Mario Sports Mix, there are some occasions in which the White Mage's tiara isn't visible. This usually happens when she isn't close to the camera.
  • In the coding of Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Mario Sports Mix, she is named "Shiroma". The same happens to her partner, Black Mage, that in the in-game files of both games he is called "Kuroma".
    • However, in the Japanese version of Mario Sports Mix, they are still called Shiroma and Kuroma.
  • In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Robin has a pallete swap where his robe resembles that of a White Mage, and in turn that of Psycho Kamek as well. One of Rosalina's pallette swaps resemble White Mage as well.
