Template:Character-infobox The Subcon King (Japanese: サブコンキング, Sabukon kingu) is the king and is the real ruler of the world of Subcon. He first appeared in BS Super Mario USA which is currently his only known appearance. The Subcon King resides in his castle along with many Subcons. His world and kingdom is often attacked by the 8-bits, led by Wart, ever since Super Mario Bros. 2.
History
Background
Despite his debut in BS Super Mario USA, the Subcon King was involved with the past event before the game. He ruled over the kingdom of Subcon a long time ago until the evil frog king came over. The Subcon King has been attacked with their kingdom and his people by Wart and the 8 bits ever since the beginning of Super Mario Bros. 2. Finally, the Mushroom Kingdom's great hero, Mario, with the help of his brother Luigi, his friends Toad and Princess Toadstool, saved Subcon, with its king and inhabitants, from Wart's evil spell.
BS Super Mario USA
The Subcon King first appeared in BS Super Mario USA. Directly after the events of Super Mario Bros. 2, the Subcon King thanked Mario for saving Subcon from Wart. As a thanks, he made many golden statues of Mario around his kingdom. However, so suddenly, Wart and the 8 bits came back and attacked the kingdom and stole all the golden statues, he then imprisoned the Subcon King with the Subcons. Wart then give golden statues to the generals and some of them are scattered all over the whole dream world. So Mario and friends must stop Wart and his army, retrieve all of the statues and save the Subcon King.
In the game, the Subcon King was quite a helpful character. Like the main characters and villains, the Subcon King also appears frequently as a card in front of the screen, which somehow could do some special effects for Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool to assist them on their quest. Like others, the Subcon King could either cause earthquakes like a Pow Block, allow characters to make heavy stomps on the ground, transform Mario into his invincible form, destroy all enemies of the screen's range, or give bombs to him.
In the end, Mario was able to succeed his second adventure in Subcon. He saved the world, its kingdom, the inhabitants and the Subcons, by defeating Wart, the leaders and the 8 bits, and managed to retrieve all of the Gold Statues of Mario. The King thanked Mario, and the Subcon exiled Wart to another dream world.
General Information
Character Description
The Subcon King is a human who rules over Subcon, he has a similar appearance to that of King Fret and Prince Pine from Yoshi's Safari. He has a height as tall as Mario and Birdo. He is taller than characters like Toad. But he is shorter than Luigi and other taller characters. Even though the king is human, his body is bit similar to that of a Toad, however, his legs look a bit thinner than other characters, except Waluigi. He has a pert, pointed, defined nose like Princess Toadstool. His lips is covered by his blonde mustache. Unlike certain charcters, the Subcon King has no eyebrows. He has eyes similar to that of Toads.

Powers and Abilities
Like certain characters in BS Super Mario USA, the Subcon King is skilled with magic. He could do some do some powerful magic to assist Mario on his quest when he often appears as a card on the screen, however, he randomly cast his spells for the hero. The Subcon King could cause earthquakes like a Pow Block to kill foes, allow characters to make heavy stomps on the ground, turn Mario into his invincible form, destroy all enemies within the player's range, or give bombs to him.
The king could even uses abilites the Subcons has, he even protects his kingdom and the world as well, but mostly trusts his inhabitants to do so.
Relationships with other characters
Wart
- Main article: Wart
Wart has repeatly attacked Subcon and aducted the king twice, and takes over his kingdom completely. Wart always wanted to rule over Subcon as its king by taking the Subcon King's place and enslave his people with the help of the 8 bits, so they could be all under the control of the evil frog king.
Soon after he got defeated by the hands of Mario, Wart, who was still asleep with Mouser and Birdo, actually saw the king making the golden statues of Mario while he was still subconscious, he directly came back and attacked the king and stole all of the golden statues, invaded his kingdom to become the king who rules over it again. It does shown that the Subcon King and Wart has a bad chemistry with each other. So the king entrusted Mario to help, while the king casts his spell for assistance to defeat Wart, while his magic doesn't work on Wart himself. Since Wart failed to defeat Mario, he was exiled to another dream land by the king and the Subcons, hoping he would not come back again to invade it or return here in a good manner.
Mario

Mario has saved the king of Subcon twice. Between Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad, the king choosely proclaimed only Mario as Subcon's great hero who defeated Wart in the past for certain reasons, so he made gold trophies for him as a thanks for saving the world. Though their relationship between these two is unknown, but is known that the Subcon King consider Mario much more than a hero than the other three saviors who aided him. Because of that, the king got attacked by the 8 bits. They are known to get along very well, while he got kidnapped by Wart, he helps Mario to get the trophies and defeat the 8 bits, including the leaders and Wart for the dream world. He casts his magic on Mario to transform into his invincibility form, allow him to make heavy stomps and more, proving for the Subcon King and Mario to cooperating well. But that includes the other three characters, who could be switched randomly, mostly by the five villains' spell themselves.
Subcon

The Subcons are the major races of the world and are the king's loyal servants. They are the people whom the Subcon King trusts the most to protect Subcon as the guardians. As they are people of his world, the Subcon King takes good care for his world and servants, including the inhabitants as well. The same thing for the Subcon Fairies, who protects the king and the world. Template:Human
