During the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, the evil extraterrestrials known as Shroobs were capable of firing purple energy bolts that could turn anyone into a purple Shroob Mushroom. Toadiko, Toadbert, Kylie Koopa, and Baby Bowser all suffer this horrible fate, but they are all "de-mushroomized" in the end.
