Species Bell
First appearance Mario Party 3 (2000)

Belltop is a character in Mario Party 3. His name is a pun on "bellhop." He is a magical bell who bears the semblance of a windup Toad, and always carries a whistle in his mouth. Belltop was brought to life by the faux Millennium Star's magic. He inhabits all of the Duel Boards and doles out coins to the players skilled enough to deserve them. Whenever a player passes Belltop, he starts counting down from five to zero. Every time a player passes him, the number decreases to a lower number. Once Belltop's hat reaches zero, he bangs his head with drumsticks and blows his whistle to signify the beginning of a Duel minigame. Once the Duel minigame is complete, his head returns to five. The winner receives 20, 30, or 40 coins depending on the current turn number, as opposed to a Minigame Space, which gives 10 coins.
