The Construction Site,[1][better source needed] also known as Construction[2] or the Start,[3] is a location from Donkey Kong for the arcade and Donkey Kong for Game Boy. It is a building that is being constructed. When Donkey Kong kidnapped Pauline, he climbed up the construction site with her. When Mario attempted to pursue him, Donkey Kong began throwing barrels down at him.

In the original Donkey Kong, New York City served as the location of the construction site.[4] The Game Boy game indicated it was located in the vicinity of Big-City, while Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle implied it was Big Ape City from Donkey Kong Land (also indicated, but not explicitly stated by the game's instruction booklet). Currently, it is suggested to have been the foundation of where New Donk City is located in Super Mario Odyssey.[5][6]
