A Tweester, as it appears in Paper Mario.

Tweesters are a kind of tornado found in some Mario games. They are usually found in desert levels and rarely water levels.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, their only appearance was in the quick sand level, where they would trap Mario in an air pocket and move him backwards. The only way to get past one was to run at it head on, which would cause Mario to fly into the air.

In Super Mario 64, when Mario touched one of them, he would fly through the air for a few seconds. They appeared in Shifting Sand Land.

In Paper Mario was the first game where they had nasty faces, and would blow Mario one screen north and one screen east in Dry Dry Desert. It is highly recommended not to touch them, as Mario could easily get lost in the vast sands. However, one of them could blow Mario near a rare item on top of a high rock, and this item could not be reached by any other means.

Like many other minor enemies, Tweesters have found home as capsules in the Mario Party franchise. In Mario Party 6, there was a Tweester Orb that, when the other person touched it, would steal coins from them. A Tweester also served as an obstacle in the Dry Dry Desert stage of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

In Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix a Tweester attacks the S.S. Brass, making it spin and spin. However, this Tweester appeared in an island, and not the desert.

Tweesters are seen in Super Mario Sunshine at Ricco Harbor usualy found close to the lighthouse. They also appear in Pianta Village when Mario is chasing Shadow Mario.

Tweesters appear in Super Mario Galaxy however instead of having mean faces, here they have big white eyeballs, no mouth, and they are actually a bit helpful. When Mario touches one, he will spin around. Then he has to do a Star Spin, and the Tweester will make him go flying in the air while Mario spins his arms around very quickly like a helicopter. This allows Mario to fly like a helicopter for a very short time. Tornados that look like Tweesters only without the face also appear in this game. As usual, this Tweester appeared in the desert.
