The ghosts are species from the Luigi's Mansion series.

History

The ghosts first appear in Luigi's Mansion. The ones in this game are created by the ghost artist Vincent Van Gore after King Boo releases him from his portrait, along with the other Portrait Ghosts.

Different types of ghosts appear in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, the sequel to Luigi's Mansion, however, these ghosts are friendly and help Professor E. Gadd. However, when the Dark Moon is destroyed by King Boo, the ghosts turn against E. Gadd and go on a rampage, commanded by King Boo. Luigi once again comes up behind them and not only fixes what they break, but also catches them all, and repairs the Dark Moon, making them friendly yet again.

Luigi's Mansion

  • Instruction booklet description: "There are several types of normal ghost, each with a different shape and size. They are not abnormally difficult to capture, because they're, well, normal. There are also slightly special elemental ghosts, but you'll have to see page 15 for more information about them."

Ghosts BrawlTrophy188.png GCN Luigi's Mansion Ghost variations that appeared throughout Luigi's Mansion. They don't have the special power required to manifest any truly unusual ghostly phenomena, so they rely on such pedestrian physical methods as punching Luigi to frighten him. There are also some rare varieties that are very rich and drop a lot of coins.

GhostsTrophy3DS.png Despite Luigi's crippling fear of...well, everything, Professor E. Gadd ropes him into taking care of some unruly ghosts. Here we have four types: the small green ones are Greenies, the angry-looking red ones are Slammers, the thin blue ones are Hiders, and the big yellow ones are Gobbers. What appropriate names!
Polterpup PolterpupTrophy3DS.png If you combine a puppy and a ghost, you'll get a cute little Polterpup. They seem to enjoy causing no end of trouble, but I couldn't tell you if they're enemies or just really mischievous. This big guy's a lot bigger than normal—hopefully he just wants to be friends? The little guy...or girl - who can tell - is always finding ways to cause mischief, but it's not clear whether he's your friend, your foe, or just a crazy critter who can't decide one way or the other. Still, as much of a handful as this pup can be, he's nothing compared to Big Polterpups!

Suck them all up with your Poltergust 3000, but watch out for their attacks while you do! The gold ones' short punches might not be too hard to dodge, but the pink ones have much greater reach. The blue ones will smack the floor to hit you with shock waves!
