Red Yoshi

A Red Yoshi.

Red Yoshis are a species of Yoshi. In Super Mario World when it eats any shell it gains the ability to spit fire plus the shell power.

One appears as an alternate color of Yoshi in Mario Hoops 3 on 3, unlocked by achieving a silver trophy in the Flower Tourney, Hard Mode. The player must hold the D-pad ↑, ↓ or X or B while putting normal Yoshi in the hoop during character selection.

In Mario Power Tennis, Yoshi can change colors every time he performs a Rolling Egg Return, provided the player has completed the Flower Cup with any character. One of the colors that Yoshi can turn is red.

Appearance

In Super Mario World, Red Yoshi, like the other yoshis in that game, had red skin, but orange arms, brown shoes and a brown saddle.

Eating any shell, Red Yoshi spits fire.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Red Yoshi looked about the same as he did in Super Mario World, but with orange shoes and an orange saddle. However in the Gameboy Advance remake, Red Yoshi wore celadon colored shoes.

From Yoshi's Story and on, Red Yoshi had dark blue shoes and a red saddle.
