Star Pieces are collectible items in the Paper Mario series. Star Pieces serve no real use to Mario; however, they can be used to trade for various badges. There are 160 in Paper Mario and 100 in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. To find them you must do a Super Jump on paths, find them at secrit places, or have someone give them to you. In Paper Mario, they are used for trading with Merlow for badges. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, they are used for trading with the creature Dazzle in Rogueport Sewers.
Star Pieces made a cameo appearance in the mini-game Frozen Frenzy in Mario Party 5. The player who collected the most would win the mini-game.
