Like a standard slot machine, the player must press {{button|gcn|A}} to stop each of the three slots. For Slot-O-Whirl!, the player has 30 seconds to land each slot on a [[key]], but each time it does, the next slot spins faster. If the player lands each slot on a key, they win. However, if the slot machine lands on a red, blue, or green [[Bowser]] emblem or the player runs out of time, they lose.
The player must push {{button|gcn|A}} for the three individual slots and have them land on the [[key]] and not the colored [[Bowser]] faces. If a slot wheel lands on a key, the next wheel spins faster. If the player can get the key to appear on all three slots before the 30-second time limit expires, the player wins.
