Role in the Subspace Emissary
Template:Spoiler Lucario is encountered at the top of The Glacial Peak which the Ice Climbers and Meta Knight climb. At the top of the mountain, Meta Knight meets Lucario. Lucario and Meta Knight look at each other for a while and fight, while the Ice Climbers watch frightened. The player has the choice to play as either Lucario or Meta Knight--whoever loses the battle gets turned into a trophy, and the winner decides to revive the loser of the match.
After the loser is revived, Meta Knight and Lucario look at each other again for a while, with the Ice Climbers still frightened. However, Meta Knight and Lucario then shake hands, which is a sign that they are now allies. The Ice Climbers are glad to see Lucario and Meta Knight teaming up. However then, the four of them see the Halberd and the Great Fox. The Halberd makes the Great Fox crash into part of the mountain, which makes the Ice Climbers fall off the mountain. Lucario and Meta Knight are able to climb on top of the Great Fox and then jump onto the Halberd, and they go inside the Halberd.
The two travel through the Halberd, until Lucario, using his Aura, senses something coming from a Cardboard Box. Lucario lifts up the box and encounters Solid Snake. Meta Knight and Snake prepare to battle each other, however Lucario interrupts and warns the two that Primids are coming. Lucario, Meta Knight and Snake become allies and they make their way through the Halberd. After a long path, they came into a room where Princess Peach and Princess Zelda were locked in cages, and turned into Trophies. The Shadow Bugs came through the Trophies and turned into the Dark Being versions of Peach and Zelda. Lucario, Meta Knight and Snake had to fight them.
After defeating the Dark Beings, the group revived Peach and Zelda, when they were freed. Peach and Zelda looks at Snake, but he and the others tell the princesses can better stay there. Of course, they wouldn't do that, and after the three leaves, Zelda turns herself ino Sheik and opened the door. Peach came after Sheik, smiling. Lucario, Meta Knight and Snake continues with their quest, until they finally reach the Control Room, which is filled with Mr. Game & Watch men. Snake kicks the Game & Watch out the window, and the Game & Watch people all turn into Shadow Bugs.
The bugs then turn into Duon. Snake and Lucario jump out the window and meet up with Fox, Peach, Zelda and Falco where they fight Duon, while Meta Knight stays in the Control Room. After Duon is defeated, all the Shadow Bugs turn into the Mr. Game & Watch Trophy. Fox would to destroy it with his Blaster, but Peach walks to it and revives the Trophy. Mr. Game & Watch seems to be a bit shy about Peach after looking around, and then Peach gave the 2D person her parasol. Mr. Game & Watch seems to be enjoyed with her parasol. Finally Meta Knight grabs the steer of the Halberd and controls it.
After the Falcon Flyer and the Halberd reunite, they then travel to the desert where everyone reunites. Then they fight against Ganondorf and Bowser's ship and make it to Subspace. There in Subspace, Lucario and everyone else fight against Tabuu.
Solid Snake Codec Conversation
- Mei Ling: You're fighting Lucario, aren't you, Snake?
- Snake: Mei Ling, what's that purple fire coming out of his hands?
- Mei Ling: That's his "Aura."
- Snake: Aura?
- Mei Ling: I guess you could call it his life force. Lucario can use his own Aura and turn it into power. Every time Lucario's damage increases, his Aura gains strength, making his attacks more powerful. So don't think you've got him beat just because his health is down.
- Snake: The cornered rat will bite the cat... Sounds like trouble.
- Mei Ling: Hey! When did you become so good with proverbs?!
- Snake: You must have rubbed off on me.
- Mei Ling: Well, come back in one piece, and I'll teach you all the Chinese proverbs you can handle.

Lucario | File:TrLucario.jpg | An Aura Pokémon. It can track energy called Aura, which is given off by all living creatures. It's a unique combination of both Fighting- and Steel-type Pokémon. Lucario evolves from Riolu during the day if its happiness has reached a certain point. It specializes in attacks that use Aura energy, like Dark Pulse and a can't-miss technique, Aura Sphere. |
Aura Storm | File:TrAura storm.jpg | Lucario's Final Smash. After flying off the screen, Lucario reappears in its center. He then launches a powerful Aura attack against all foes within a certain distance. The key to this attack is the ability to change its angle--it's a must to sweep slowly left and right to hit selected enemies multiple times. The last blow will send the victim flying away. |

Trivia
- Lucario is based on the Egyptian god Anubis, who also inspired the Anuboos of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
- Lucario seems to speak during the fight, for instance, during his Final Smash where he says, "Watch the power of Aura." However, Masahiro Sakurai has stated that Lucario is not actually speaking, but is using telepathy to communicate the voices.
- Pokemon tend to be referred to as "it." However, during Solid Snake's Codec, Mei Ling refers to Lucario as a "he." This is likely because the Lucario in Brawl is similar to the one from the 8th Pokemon Movie.
