New name?[edit]
So, do we call this Mushroom (M&L) or something due to BiS's remake? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 22:54, July 9, 2023 (EDT)
- Depends on what the naming situation for the BiS item is in other languages. I sincerely doubt the minor quest item in PiT is the same as the giant healing item in BiS. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 07:06, July 10, 2023 (EDT)
- You do have a point. The one in BiS has a regular Mushroom's appearance and restores Bowser's health by 50% which is most likely why it's called Mushroom in BiS's remake whereas the Refreshroom in PiT has a unique appearance and is used to cure Toadsworth's Shroomshock. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:55, July 10, 2023 (EDT)
- Is it this thing? Looks like it was originally under the name「かいふくキノコ」(Kaifuku Kinoko, Recover Mushroom). Maybe someone had fun with it to fit in space and forgot there was already a Refreshroom in the previous game? And then for some reason, the remake simplified it to「キノコ」(Kinoko, Mushroom). So, yes, the Partners in Time Refreshroom would seem to be different from the Bowser's Inside Story mushroom. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:30, July 21, 2023 (EDT)
- Should we split this then? Reminds me of the ? Mushroom/Reverse Mushroom situation. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 09:52, July 23, 2023 (EDT)

Split the Giant Bowser battle Refreshroom[edit]
This talk page section contains an unresolved talk page proposal. Please try to help and resolve the issue by voting or leaving a comment. |
Current time: Friday, January 10, 2025, 17:51 GMT
As one can see on the discussion above, this Bowser's Inside Story item was originally known in Japanese as かいふくキノコ (Kaifuku Kinoko), a different name from the Partners in Time's リフレッシュキノコ (Refesh Kinoko). This, along with a different appearance and different function set them apart from each other in all but English name, meaning the page should be split. Apart from originally having a unique name, the Bowser's Inside Story item looks like a Mushroom, acts like a Mushroom and is now called a Mushroom. Size differences aside, this means it probably fits better in the Mushroom article, where it is, oddly enough, already covered. If this proposal fails then information in the Mushroom article should be removed and kept in this article. For completion's sake I have also included here a list of the Refreshroom's names in different languages.
Language | Partners in Time | Bowser's Inside Story |
---|---|---|
Japanese | リフレッシュキノコ Refresh Kinoko |
かいふくキノコ Kaifuku Kinoko |
French | Champicure | Champignon curatif |
German | Pepp-Pilz | Frisch-Pilz |
Italian | Rivitalfungo | Grande Fungo |
Spanish | champialivio | Champiñón restaurador |

Move the Giant Bowser item to the Mushroom article[edit]
- LadySophie17 (talk) Per myself.
- Camwoodstock (talk) Per proposal. In addition, the Giant Bowser item is more like a standard Mushroom, while the PiT one is moreso a key item.
- Blinker (talk) Per proposal.
- Sparks (talk) Per all.
- PrincessPeachFan (talk) I pointed out the name change after all.
- Hewer (talk) Makes sense.
- ThePowerPlayer (talk) This is a very strange merge.
Keep the Giant Bowser item in the Refreshroom article[edit]
Comments (Giant Bowser item)[edit]
There's an argument to be made about merging the Partners in Time Refreshroom and Shroomshock into one page since they are so minor, but I don't want to make a proposal on that while this one is active, and I don't even know what that page would be called. — Lady Sophie (T|C) 17:01, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- To be fair, there's a lot of random plot key items that don't really get much screentime and/or have lasting consequence in PiT. The DS time radar, the Aurora Block, the Shroob missile... ~Camwoodstock (talk) 17:04, December 29, 2024 (EST)
No option to split it into its own page? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:17, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- An option to make a page about an item that looks like a Mushroom, heals you like a Mushroom and is most recently called a Mushroom? — Lady Sophie (T|C) 20:19, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- That wasn't originally called a Mushroom, and is clearly much, much bigger than a standard Mushroom, yes. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:13, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- Rhythm Mushroom from the sequel to this game involves oversized Mushrooms and Prince Dreambert's quote page says the items from that move are Mushrooms. I think the Mushrooms are just scaling to match the combatants. Which they can do because it's a video game and scale doesn't really matter in fictional fantasy land. Salmancer (talk) 21:20, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- Don't know how exactly the BiS move works, but from the looks of things, the Rhythm Mushroom page is moreso about the action command than the mushrooms. ~Camwoodstock (talk) 22:17, December 29, 2024 (EST)
- The BIS item heals you for half your health, the Rhythm Mushroom heals you based on how you timed your taps. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:20, December 30, 2024 (EST)
- Wait, is there not even an action command for the BiS one? ~Camwoodstock (talk) 12:25, December 30, 2024 (EST)
- No, you tap the Refreshroom/Mushroom icon and then Giant Bowser pulls it out and eats it. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:26, December 30, 2024 (EST)
