Koopa Canyon is the first level of World 2 in Yoshi's New Island. It is similar to Visit Koopa And Para-Koopa from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Rock 'n' Fall from Yoshi's Island DS for featuring Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratroopas, and Cascading Stones that may fall when stepped on. This level's playable Yoshi is the Green Yoshi.

Layout

Yoshi starts in an area where he has to traverse many stone slabs, some of which fall by stepping on them. He must also contend with several Koopa Troopas and Koopa Paratroopas, as well as a line of Shy Guys which can all be taken out with a Koopa Shell to obtain an extra life. At the end of the road, there is a door that leads to another section with a Checkpoint Ring and a pipe that produces Metal Guys. Yoshi must ingest a Metal Guy and turn it into a Metal Eggdozer, then roll it through a series of stone walls to break them. Another pipe that spawns Metal Guys is found afterward, followed by a long bed of spikes, a ledge and a pipe that leads to the next area. Once here, Yoshi must evade large stone blocks that descend from above before reaching the Goal Ring.
