The move's name is likely a pun on "kung pao." A yellow meter on the top left corner of the screen determines if the Kongs can use Kong POW. As the Kongs collect bananas, the meter fills up. Once they collect 100 bananas and a Kong is on Donkey Kong's back, the duo can use the ability by pressing L Button and R Button simultaneously. The enemies transform into a different item depending on which Kong is with Donkey Kong: Diddy Kong turns enemies into Red Balloons, Dixie Kong turns them into Gold Hearts, and Cranky Kong turns them into Banana Coins. The move cannot be used without another Kong, when the player is riding a vehicle, when they are inside a Barrel Cannon, or while they are holding an object.
