Bowser Kaboom Squad is a mode found in Super Mario Party Jamboree. Being a part of the Bowser Challenges section, it involves eight players fighting Impostor Bowser in a large arena by collecting bombs and bombarding Impostor Bowser with them.

Gameplay

In this mode, 8 players are tasked with fighting Impostor Bowser in a city-themed arena. There are five rounds lasting one and a half minutes each: in each round, players must find crates containing bombs, which they then need to carry to a cannon while Impostor Bowser attacks them. Impostor Bowser himself has 120 HP, spread across a healthbar with three segments: the green segment, which he starts with at the beginning of the game, has him follow players and attack them with either a Fire Breath or a claw swipe; the yellow segment, which he reaches upon losing 40 HP, has him breathe fire balls into the sky, which then turn into lava puddles upon contact with the ground; finally, the red segment, reached upon losing 80 HP, has him use a homing shell attack. Any player hit by one of these attacks are put in a bubble, and another player needs to hit the bubble to revive them.

Aside from the bombs, Coins regularly appear across the arena, and collecting 100 of them triggers an event called "Bonus Time": during this event, the bombs turn golden, and players have thirty seconds to place as many golden bombs in the cannon as possible, dealing double damage to Impostor Bowser.

At the end of each round, player will play an 8-player Minigame, with the final rank determining which items they can choose from. These include:

  • Dash Panel: Allows the player to dash for a limited amount of time. Depending on the round, the players can place either one, two or three Dash Panels.
  • Hammer: Allows the player to break crates faster. There is also an Iron Hammer, which maxes out its player's hit strength.
  • Heart: Allows bubbled players to free themselves without the help of another player. The Super version can be used repeatedly.
  • Lightning: Temporarily stuns Impostor Bowser and any enemies in a large radius.
  • Banana: Makes Impostor Bowser slip, temporarily stunning him.
  • Mighty Glove: Doubles the amount of bombs its player can carry from two to four.
  • Trampoline: Allows the player to head back to the cannon.
  • Bowser Bell: Calls Impostor Bowser to the location the bell is placed on.

If Impostor Bowser is not defeated by the end of five rounds, he will destroy the arena with fire balls, making the players lose. Else, each player will grab a Super Star, making them invincible as they attack Impostor Bowser, who unavailedly fights them back. Once Impostor Bowser's health is depleted, he will be sent flying away into the sky, granting a win to the eight players.

At the end of the game, the players are rated with one to five stars, with the factors being how well they did during the Minigames, how much time it took to defeat Impostor Bowser and how many players have been rescued, among others.
