Ceiling Surprises, also known as white dangler,[1] are smiling light pink ghosts that hide on the ceiling and drops down to startle Luigi in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. They are generally coupled with another common ghost, usually Bowling Ghosts, especially in the Area Two and Area Three hallways. They have a bomb-dropping variant called Purple Bombers. Defeating the Ceiling Surprise in the Bottom of the Well is required to obtain the key to the Rec Room. Ceiling Surprises are the weakest ghosts: Other than having zero HP, they are incapable of attacking Luigi. Ceiling Surprises always drop a 10- or 20 HP-restoring heart when vacuumed, but not if defeated from an element.
Creepers from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Trappers from Luigi's Mansion 3 have a similar attack strategy to Ceiling Surprises.
