Mario Strikers: Battle League (known in Europe and Australia as Mario Strikers: Battle League Football)[1][2] is an upcoming game for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third game in the Mario Strikers series, featuring new gear, items, and moves. Up to 8 players can play the game in multiplayer. The game also supports online "club mode" with up to 20 players. The game is set to release on June 10, 2022.[3]
Gameplay
The gameplay is similar to that of previous Mario Strikers games, where two teams of five (four players and a goalie) compete for points by getting the ball into the opposing team's net. Unlike in previous games, no generic sidekicks appear to be present in the game so far, with teams being comprised entirely of main playable characters and a goalie.[3]
A new ability introduced in this game is called the Hyper Strike, which acts as the game's special move, much like the Super Strike from Super Mario Strikers and Mega Strike from Mario Strikers Charged, and are activated in a similar manner as the latter. Unlike those moves however, Hyper Strikes must first be obtained by collecting an Orb that occasionally appears on the field. Characters
There are currently 10 playable characters confirmed to in the game. Of those characters, Rosalina is playable for the first time in the Mario Strikers series, while Toad now appears as a main playable character instead of his species appearing as sidekicks in previous games. Boom Booms take over the role of goalie from Kritters in previous games.
