- —Crook, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Crooks are hooded enemies encountered in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They are related to another thief enemy called Sackits. Mario and Mallow first encounter Crooks while traveling through Rose Way. When a Crook spots Mario in the area, the Crook attempts to run into Mario and his partner, initiating a battle. Though Crooks have powerful attacks (punching and throwing daggers), their defense and HP are low, with a powerful timed hit being able to take them out. They don't have any weaknesses or resistances, so all types of magic do the same damage. Crooks are often found in groups aiding other monsters in battle. Occasionally, Crooks will run away from battle.
Croco the thief also has three Crook accomplices (who are referred to as "flunkies") whom Mario and company can fight in the Coal Mines. If these Crooks are defeated in battle, they leave a Flower Tab. One of these Crooks can also be seen in the end of the game during the parade.
