Dizzy is a status ailment found in almost every Mario RPG game to date. This status ailment has also made other appearances in other games.

Paper Mario

A small blue spiral will appear over Mario's head, preventing him from moving for a few turns. Dark Koopas and Groove Guys are some enemies that can cause dizziness. Kooper has an attack that can make enemies dizzy.

The Dizzy Dial can be used to inflict this status ailment.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Again, dizziness is indicated by the blue spiral, and the Dizzy Dial returns. However, instead of negating the ability to attack, the victim's attacks will have a 50-50 chance of missing the target. In the case of FP-powered moves, the FP is subtracted when the attack begins, meaning Mario and his partners could waste FP if they should miss. Ms. Mowz has an attack that will make the enemy dizzy.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Dizziness in this game is represented by two stars above the victim's head. The status ailment serves the same purpose it did in Paper Mario.

The Advanced Cyclone Bros. attack of Luigi's can cause dizziness to enemies. However, the affliction is far more common in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.

Super Mario Galaxy

If Mario performs the Star Spin near an enemy, the enemy most likely, will be dizzy for a while. While the enemy is dizzy, the enemy will just stand in one area. During this short time, Mario has the chance to attack the enemy.

Super Smash Bros. series

In the Smash Bros. series, if the player holds the shield up for too long, the shield will break, causing the player to fly up in the air and come back down. When the player gets up again, he or she will be dizzy. During this state, the character won't be able to move, and will jyst stand in one area, shaking his or her head back and forth while moaning. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Luigi's Negative Zone Final Smash has many effects. One of them is "Dizziness".
