Bonus Stars (also known as Gold Stars) are special points found in the game Super Mario World. They are earned by touching the goal post. (More Bonus Stars are given depending on the height of the goal tape when Mario breaks it.) These Bonus Stars are saved from level to level, and earning 100 of them will let Mario or Luigi go to a bonus mini-game where they can earn 1-Up Mushrooms.
Bonus Stars reappear in the Mario Party series, however in this series they are just normal stars awarded after a party game has finished. This kind of star was awarded to the characters who performed a certain task during the game, such as landing on the most ? Spaces or using the most orbs.
