Question about rules and what users are allowed to (or not allowed to) speak
Hi Henery Tucayo Clay. I responded to your message on my wall here. I would like to clarify on what freedoms users have in speaking opinions as I am concerned about what I can or cannot say after the warning issued to me.
If you could respond and let me know when you get the chance, that would be appreciated. Thank you. Editorguy117 (talk) 21:42, 15 August 2016 (EDT)

Bundle Stuff

Hey Tucayo, I have a question, when a character is announced to appear in an upcoming game, why do we wait till it's released before we add it. What would be the difference between adding it now or when it's released. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 00:32, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

What specifically are you talking about? --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 19:50, 19 June 2016 (EDT)
An example is like when y'know how when Paper Jam was nearly released some users put down Starlow's latest appearance as that game, why do we just wait till the game is realeased before changing the latest appearance. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 19:54, 19 June 2016 (EDT)
Oh, OK. We wait because technically nothing is definitive until the game is actually released. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 20:00, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

Help:Signature

Thanks for updating the signature pages, while you're at it could you maybe change the colours on the "Usage" table in the page? It's hard on the eyes and almost impossible to read with white text on a yellow background. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 20:02, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

Sure thing. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 20:05, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

Mario Party 2

In light of your recent proposal, what are you planning to do with the minigames from Mario Party 2, which includes TOAD in the Box, TOAD Bandstand, BOB-OMB Barrage, Hot BOB-OMB, and BOWSER's Big Blast? I'm just curious as to what you're planning. Hello, I'm Time Turner.

I would like to move them as well, to be honest. I don't have MP2 so I can't see the in-game context of those being stylized like that or if it's just meaningless as with the boards in my proposal. If it's just random stylization, then I would be very inclined to move them. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:32, 19 June 2016 (EDT)
Judging by this video, the minigames use the stylized titles when played as normal and when the minigame is selected from the menu (and presumably when it shows up in other modes, such as Mini-Game Coaster and Mini-Game Battle). The Prima guide also uses the stylized names, which you can deem as important as you need it to be. I also agree with you on the random stylization: it kinda seems like they're capitalizing the names of enemies and characters, but other minigames like Shy Guy Says or Bowser Slots don't follow the same rule. One thing I didn't notice until after I linked to it: Hot Bob-omb didn't actually get moved alongside the other minigames, which is a big oversight that you could bring up in a proposal. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
It's so inconsistent I would like to move them all to regular capitalization, but I don't know if I can do that based on my proposal or if some more consensus would be needed. I think the reason Hot Bob-omb is there is because it was written like that in MP1, which is still against our policy since we should use the most recent name and that would be Hot BOB-OMB. It's funny because in that article, the capitalization on MP2 is just disregarded as a stylization and it takes Hot Bob-omb as the actual name. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:58, 19 June 2016 (EDT)
Personally, while the circumstances are slightly different (board vs. minigame, fully stylized vs. partially stylized), I wouldn't disagree with you if you wanted to use the former proposal as justification. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
I'll check with the admin team to see if I can go ahead and move them. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 22:12, 19 June 2016 (EDT)

Protecting Mario Party (series)

Should Mario Party (series) be protected? So far, three anons have made the same false info edit. (And now that I think about it, I guess it was unnecessary for me to block them since you can just protect the page anyway...) Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC

I'm not trying to sound rude here but you're a Patroller, can't you protect it yourself? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 04:23, 20 June 2016 (EDT)
Only sysops can do that. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC
That IP is clearly Fidel. CrashBash (talk) 11:59, 20 June 2016 (EDT)
Yeah, protection would be best. The block is good since they were doing ban-worthy stuff anyway. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:40, 20 June 2016 (EDT)

Vandal warnings

I issued a warning to ErrorBuzzerSound2565 (talk) because they blanked a page and then restored it; I couldn't tell if it was trolling or just done as a one-time joke but went with the latter (benefit of doubt). I know that particular user was blocked as a sockpuppet but in that type of case (quick vandalism then revert) are you just supposed to leave them to get blocked? --driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 17:27, 20 June 2016 (EDT)

Yes The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 17:29, 20 June 2016 (EDT)
I'd appreciate if you'd let admins answer questions about admin stuff. Yes, users who join just to vandalize are always to be immediately blocked. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:13, 20 June 2016 (EDT)

Proposal

Hey Tucayo. I want to have a proposal but it's for two pages, what do I do instead of just having the same proposal on two pages. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 23:01, 22 June 2016 (EDT)

Have it on MarioWiki:Proposals as one proposal, as long as the changes to both pages are of the same nature. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 23:15, 22 June 2016 (EDT)
On an unlikely note, what would happen if the proposal was a tie like there were 7 supporters and 7 opposers. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 18:59, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
It gets extended for a week. It can be extended up to three times before it's declared as a tie. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 19:07, 23 June 2016 (EDT)
Hey Tucayo many people say my proposal isn't very thought out, how can I make my future ones better. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 20:30, 28 June 2016 (EDT)
There's no simple guide to make good proposals. First off, it's indeed vague. You need to explain in more detail why the change is better. You also need to cover all possible consequences of the proposal, such as inconsistency issues. Take a look at articles that have a similar situation and then see if the change makes sense. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:39, 28 June 2016 (EDT)

Sockpuppet

I spotted a sockpuppet of many different accounts: KevinSquidy000 (talk). There have been many KevinSquidys before so could you please check his/her IP. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:45, 24 June 2016 (EDT)

Image

Hey Tucayo is it okay if I upload a new version of File:Gnaw1.jpg I am 98% certain that mine is better. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 00:32, 27 June 2016 (EDT)

I assume you mean File:Gnaw1.JPG? Please use your better judgement. That image has very poor quality, so it can be definitely improved. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:37, 27 June 2016 (EDT)
Though mine is actually png so should I just upload it separately? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 00:39, 27 June 2016 (EDT)
Yes. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:39, 27 June 2016 (EDT)
The image that Fawful's Minion (talk) uploaded is bigger and a little bit better, but has a factor of blurriness to it. File:Gnaw.png A better version can still be uploaded. I am almost never fond of using YouTube or similar as a source. Pretty sure it should be tagged with image-quality. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:04, 27 June 2016 (EDT)
How's this screenshot Gabumon (talk) took? --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 18:49, 27 June 2016 (EDT)
Userpedia:File:MvsFF 2 07 11.png It's better but not entirely the best replacement we can do. There's significantly less blur to that image but still a little bit though and there is some jaggedness to it. It's best to be retaken in the latest version of Dolphin (5.0 was just released a few days ago). I've been experimenting with graphical settings and my sandbox screenshot page could use some updates to get even better screenshots than ever before. Where did Gabumon (talk) get that image? Also, what is the purpose of Userpedia? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:34, 28 June 2016 (EDT)
Never mind. I went to GameFAQs and downloaded a "powersave" and then converted it with sq-dps (GBATemp) to be readable by either my Wii or Wii emulator. Problem solved. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:13, 28 June 2016 (EDT)
I think Edo took it himself but I don't know the specifics. Userpedia is a wiki for user fiction and other types of works that wouldn't fit in the MarioWiki. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:39, 28 June 2016 (EDT)

The 'Shroom

Hi Tucayo, I sent an application for The 'Shroom, did you have received it? I think I forgot to mention that I would like a confirmation in my message. --LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 22:00, 29 June 2016 (EDT)

I did get it, thanks. I'm sorry, I usually confirm receipt on every message but I was on a rush and I forgot. Your application is now being reviewed. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 22:07, 29 June 2016 (EDT)

Languages

Hello how many different languages can a user view this wiki in because I do know how to speak two languages (Macedonian and Chinese). The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 16:50, 3 July 2016 (EDT)

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. The wiki and the content can just be seen in English. We have a German and an Italian affiliate (links found on sidebar). --Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) 20:53, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

Protect or Block

Hi, can you please block the IP or protect Green Fire, because the same IP always make the same nonsense edit and change the Green Fire from a middleweight Kart to a Lightweight Kart. Maybe both would be a good idea. --LudwigVon Sig.png(TALK) 20:06, 3 July 2016 (EDT)

Beaten to it :P --Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) 20:53, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

Signature proposal

I know it's been a while since my proposal passed but I'm wondering why you decided to make a strong point of "encourage" instead of "mandatory". The signature guidelines already said that a datestamp is encouraged so that action would make the proposal ineffective. The proposal's goal was that a new rule should be added (maybe it wasn't clear enough in the proposal itself but I did say multiple times in the comments) making the timestamp (which, I don't see why is a big deal, it's not that hard to set up or can be inputted manually) a requirement for signatures, and that it would be enforced like any other signature rule (e.g. images, text, etc.) and would warrant an informal message at most, not a warning. With all of this, why did you choose to keep it toned down? I'm just curious over this; the current situation is perfectly fine and I'm not demanding to add that but I just want to know why the "enforce" part was quickly shot down. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 20:32, 3 July 2016 (EDT)

It's basically still a requisite but it's how I preferred it to be worded and seemingly how most other people did as well. I didn't like making it strictly mandatory to have a datestamp but rather make it strongly encouraged. A matter of semantics, if you'd like. --Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) 20:53, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
Ah ok, thanks. By "strongly", though, does that mean important but still not enough to warrant an official rule? driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 21:34, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
What specifically did you have in mind? Rule 4 already mentions signatures should be followed by a datestamp. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:51, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
Exactly that; I didn't notice the specific at the end of Rule 4. driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 21:56, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

romanization of Japanese names

I found that editors sometimes come up with different romanizations for Japanese names that include kanji. For example, ゴツゴツ山 could either read "gotsugotsu san" or "gotsugotsu yama" -- both are correct. Does the wiki distinguish "ゴツゴツ gotsugotsu yama", which means Nintendo has specified a reading of the kanji and the romanization is done accordingly, from "ゴツゴツ山 gotsugotsu yama", which means the romanization is conjectural?

By the way, when making edits like this, is it a good idea to upload a screenshot as a "proof"? A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 22:02, 3 July 2016 (EDT)

It's not officially distinguished but it's good you are doing it that way to there is no doubt as to the romanization. It could be implemented in MarioWiki:Japanese so that other editors start doing that.
It wouldn't hurt to have a source backing that up so that other editors know where it's coming from. --Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) 20:53, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
Thanks. By the way, when should there be parenthesized Japanese name following the English name in the intro text? I'm confused as the Mario article doesn't have it but the Luigi one does. A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 02:53, 16 July 2016 (EDT)
There's no solid guideline but the best would be if articles had it in the same manner as Luigi. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 11:28, 16 July 2016 (EDT)
Um... what about articles like this? If there isn't any etymological relationship between the English and the Japanese names, should the Japanese name still stay that way or be moved down to its foreignname section? A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 11:40, 16 July 2016 (EDT)
If there is no relationship at all, I'd say move it down. Take note, this is only my take on it. Maybe a discussion on MarioWiki talk:Japanese could give us more opinions. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 11:49, 16 July 2016 (EDT)

Old User Personal Pages

PrincessJojora (talk) has three personal pages that don't serve MarioWiki. I only noticed this as I was replacing Super Paper Mario images. Should those pages be deleted? There could be more, but I could only find three when typing User:PrincessJojora into the search box. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:41, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

They should indeed be deleted, yeah. They are indeed the only such pages. --Henry Tucayo Clay (talk) 20:54, 5 July 2016 (EDT)
Fantastic! Thanks for deleting those pages. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:55, 5 July 2016 (EDT)

Shroom Images and Not Unused Images

Remember a while back how I said some images tagged with shroom-image and images tagged with not-unused were showing up in Special:UnusedFiles (probably unintended), reducing that special page's usefulness? YoshiKong (talk) implemented an ingenious way to fix that problem! See our talk pages to find out how the problem was solved. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:44, 6 July 2016 (EDT)

Yes! I remember it and I actually was recalling it when I saw YK and 22's solution; I'm glad it could be done! It goes to show all the things one can do in MediaWiki. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:19, 6 July 2016 (EDT)

Appealing Archive Warnings

Hey Tucayo I have a question, can you appeal warnings on archives. I personally feel I didn't deserve one of the warnings (definitely not the one you gave me) but another one, I checked both the warning and courtesy policies thrice and it isn't mentioned anywhere for the action I did, even though it's archived can I still appeal it as it wasn't deserved. Yes, you can appeal those as well. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:53, 11 July 2016 (EDT)

Giant Bowser and Giant Luigi

I have a quick question why is it Giant Bowser is a redirect to Bowser but Giant Luigi is it's own article? Shouldn't They both be split or merged either way doesn't really matter but it is just bizarre seeing this. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:27, 11 July 2016 (EDT)

From what I can gather, there's not enough info about Giant Bowser as of now. Should there be enough info to put together an article, it should be split as well. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 22:35, 11 July 2016 (EDT)

Main Images in Infoboxes

I noticed an IP changed the image of two pages on the Infoboxes for their respective articles. Back before when the other M&Ls came out we didn't change it (did we)? So the question is does the image in the infobox have to originate from the main series only or can it be like cartoon images as well? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 18:07, 12 July 2016 (EDT)

Main series images are better as they are more representative. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 21:30, 12 July 2016 (EDT)

Recent Issue

The user DEJAPIERRE (talk) has been adding unnecessary (final appearance) trivia mainly on this page. Most of his edit history consists of adding that same trivia about it being the final appearance of a character in the game, the main article he's been doing this to is Mario Party 7, he did it to more earlier just so you can see here is a list of his contributions. I gave him a reminder earlier telling him to stop but he did it again a month later, he's also targeted Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 16:30, 16 July 2016 (EDT)

Mini-Boss category

I noticed that in the bosses category, all bosses were listed regardless to whether they were once (or always) mini/mid-bosses in general (eg. Big Buzzy Beetle Kamek etc.) shouldn't there be a category for both? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 00:01, 20 July 2016 (EDT)

What exactly do you mean by this? A category for one-time mini-bosses and a category for traditional mini-bosses? That wouldn't be necessary. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:53, 20 July 2016 (EDT)
What I mean is like a category for all mini-bosses not two seperate categories. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 16:20, 20 July 2016 (EDT)
Category:Bosses has Category:Final Bosses as a sub-category; it should be assumed bosses who are only in the former and not the latter are mid-bosses and mini-bosses. I mean, a category for mid/mini-bosses could be made for the sake or organization, but it's not exactly needed. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 16:35, 20 July 2016 (EDT)

User Welcoming IP

AfternoonLight (talk) welcomed an anonymous user. Are we sure that's allowed because no other IPs have that on their talk pages. Will the template have to be deleted? Will the user get a reminder of any sort? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 22:16, 20 July 2016 (EDT)

Welcoming IP's is completely unnecessary but there's no reason at all to give the user a reminder. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:39, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

about User:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox

Hi. Wildgoosespeeder said here that you wanted his /sandbox stuff be passed as rules instead of recommendations. I wonder what that means? Will we be forbidden from uploading YouTube screenshots from then on? A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 12:34, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

I said "official page", I never said "rules". It should be noted the page does not forbid anyone from uploading YouTube screenshots and I quote: "If you are going to take a screenshot of a YouTube video (or equivalent media), save in PNG format and tag the image immediately with image-quality so a more appropriately captured screenshot can be uploaded at a future date." --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:39, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
I think there was some confusion when I first mentioned my emulator screenshot idea and you said it was approved by the other admins. A lot has changed since then. I think the page needs to see review by the admins again in its current state. Also will this be a rule/policy (MarioWiki namespace page) or recommendation (help namespace page)? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 15:53, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
As you said, we'd need to review it again to make the call. When it's ready to go you can let me know and we'll take a look at it. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:55, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
I don't think it is ready yet as a formal page but I would like to see how the other admins feel about the page as it currently stands. Think of this as a check-in to show how the project is progressing. Let's see if the other admins like the direction it is going in. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:00, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

Different emulator allowed?

Sorry to trouble you again, but if YouTube screenshots are allowed, then I suppose screenshots taken with a different emulator are also allowed? Only two emulators for N64 have been stated on User:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox and I'm using a third whose result doesn't differ much. Take a Paper Mario screenshot for example:

Wildgoosespeeder's version My version
PM_Master_Poet_screenshot.png 20160722051521%21PM_Master_Poet_screenshot.png

Is that allowed? And if it is, does my version need to be tagged image-quality because it does not comply with that standard?

Thanks again. I'm sorry to be such a trouble since I already have a complete set of savestates and don't want to replay the game from start with a different emulator. A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 20:55, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

Yes, a screenshot is better than no screenshot and they can be taken from YouTube or from any emulator. I don't think them being taken with a different emulator calls for the quality template, and we're actually discussing about the tag being necessary in YouTube screenshots. We'll have a full update soon, but yes, your screenshot is fine. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 23:50, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
Whoa whoa whoa. I think this is getting out of hand. A gossip-loving Toad (talk), I did think your original screenshot submissions for Simon were fine and didn't need image-quality. I just wanted to upload a screenshot generated by a different graphics plug-in for comparison-sake. As for YouTube as a source for screenshots, I consider it a lazy way to satisfy an article tagged with Image or MoreImages. YouTube videos vary in quality drastically, but all are lossy. It makes maintenance harder for screenshot submitters if they aren't tagged with image-quality or are in the JPEG format (screenshots are better as PNGs). Emulators allow for full control of quality. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:55, 23 July 2016 (EDT)

RE:

Thanks for getting back to me Henry Tucayo Clay! I was guessing that a policy was a long shot, but seeing its potential to be a help page, that's good news to hear!

 • I'll be sure to change the fake title since this page will remain a sandbox for now until I can finalize some things.
 • Although showing examples are good, I think a little bit more elaboration would be a good thing too. See File:Thwomp Wario's Woods.png for an example. Even though it meets dimension suggestions, it was originally a JPEG converted to PNG and abandoned by Xaq (talk). If a file size is oddly high, the person seeing the screenshot should upload a cleaner version of the image.
 • Post-processing: That would be applying filters after a clean screenshot was taken or using a filter as the game is running in the emulator (against MarioWiki:Image Use Policy anyways).
 • Feel free to tweak the wording now if you want. I don't mind. I allowed it before.
 • I don't have much to work with when it comes to 3DS screenshots because I can't do it right now. There is no indirect link I can supply right now. That is as good as its going to get unless an exploit gets released that can be used by anybody on any firmware version (browserhax, free eShop titles that happen to be exploitable, etc.). I am only acknowledging the 3DS hacking scene can do PNG screenshots.
 • I'll be sure to do that.

--Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 00:27, 26 July 2016 (EDT)

What odd timing. Two days later, I am now able to run exploits on my 3DS using latest firmware by using browserhax that was updated. User:Wildgoosespeeder/sandbox#3DS was updated. Cheers! --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 05:17, 28 July 2016 (EDT)

Another IP

An IP 76.2.233.252 has been vandalizing pages. I'm not sure if this is the same guy as before but he was vandalizing pages and then reverting his vandalism just as I'm about to do it. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 16:17, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

Offensive message

I saw a highly offensive meesge on Walkazo's talk page. I was highly offended by it especially since she recently died. Can I remove that profane message as it is flaming. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 20:53, 21 July 2016 (EDT)

Restore Image

I am a bit curious but I wonder what File:Screen6.gif contained. Also it breaks the pattern, which makes me even more curious:

Please restore the image? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:19, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

Images deleted before 2012 can't be restored, sorry. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 17:24, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
What happened to make it impossible to be restored? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:29, 22 July 2016 (EDT)
I don't remember the specifics but it had to do with an update. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 18:55, 22 July 2016 (EDT)

A Paper Mario edit

Hey Tucayo, some IP (104.181.85.104) has continuously added some information on two Paper articles that there is nothing suggesting that those games took place within the Paper book when both Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Paper Mario: Sticker Star both start with a book. When both me myself and two other users reverted them even Mario jc a patroller reverted a few of his edits I already sent him a message telling him to please stop, if he/she does it again what should I do? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 04:15, 24 July 2016 (EDT)

The way he worded it in his last edit to each of those pages makes perfect sense and I would not undo that edit. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 11:21, 24 July 2016 (EDT)

Question

On AfternoonLight (talk)'s talk, I gave him a reminder about edit sniping but I see he has done this once before. Should the reminder I gave him be elevated to warning? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:34, 24 July 2016 (EDT)

Since the Reminder was already issued, then no, it shouldn't be changed. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 18:59, 24 July 2016 (EDT)

Odd thing in who's online

I have a question, even after a user gets banned how are they still online? Because I saw Arceus (talk), Jasmaniac (talk) and even TabuuandPeach (talk) online. How is it possible because when banned it automatically logs out the account. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 23:10, 26 July 2016 (EDT)

Glitch in MediaWiki when they try to log in. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 23:12, 26 July 2016 (EDT)
From my understanding of MW, blocks simply mean all editing rights are taken. Shouldn't log the account out or anything. Serpent Luigi King 00:28, 27 July 2016 (EDT)
^That does make more sense. Thanks, SK! --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:31, 27 July 2016 (EDT)

Suspicious user

I saw a user called RPGreferance (talk) in the user creation log, could you check his IP, because his name is very similar to a vandal with a almost identical name, is it him? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 05:14, 27 July 2016 (EDT)

The account hasn't edited since March. This is not something that needs action to be taken. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 17:24, 27 July 2016 (EDT)

Sitenotice

Just a headsup, British" is misspelled. Also I saw the general discussion thread on the forums and from what I can understand, porplemontage (talk) decided to implement the policy of all British→American spellings and override any possibly proposal options; is this policy going to be fully rolled out shortly or is it already decided and just need implementation? driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 17:03, 28 July 2016 (EDT)

Wooops, it's been corrected now. It's already decided, it just needs implementation. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 17:06, 28 July 2016 (EDT)

About the new American spelling only rule

I have a few questions about this rule, the first being what if someone's comment was spelt in British? Second question is in The Warning Policy the rule against that is still there aren't we going to have to remove that rule? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 17:18, 28 July 2016 (EDT)

Comments, obviously, don't fall within this rule. Only actual articles. That will be updated, yes, if you'd just wait. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 17:22, 28 July 2016 (EDT)
Should Lift be moved to Elevator then? -A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 19:50, 28 July 2016 (EDT)
Also, some pages titles are in UK spelling, like Coloured Coin. I don't know what it's called in the US, but it may be something other than "Colored Coin" (since sometimes names differ by more than spelling in PAL). When linking to them, what to do if a US one is unavailable? A gossip-loving Toad (Talk) 20:23, 28 July 2016 (EDT)
I'm looking into that. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:01, 29 July 2016 (EDT)
I'll directly quote YoshiKong (talk), who helped me out on this one:

Hmm. I don't see why Lift should be moved to Elevator. "Lift" comes from Super Mario Maker, and "Elevator" comes from Super Mario 3D World. Super Mario Maker is more recent, so should take the title.

As for "Coloured Coin", MarioWiki:Naming says that the North American name takes precedence. If the North American name for "Coloured Coin" is available, then it should be moved, and "Coloured Coin" be kept as an alternate name and redirect. But if no North American name is known, but the UK one is, then that known name is linked to and titled as normal.

About preferred spelling

Does it apply to in-game quotes too? --Bowser Jr., in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.Triple K, Skye 23:26, 28 July 2016 (EDT)

No. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:01, 29 July 2016 (EDT)

Report Vandal

When reporting a vandal, can users use a template like user/vandal to show an example of his/her actions or does the reporter just have to put the troll's name/IP and nothing else? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 05:03, 29 July 2016 (EDT)

Whatever is fine as long as you don't make discussions there. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 00:00, 30 July 2016 (EDT)
And also, can you report duplicate account as well? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 03:30, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

Yes, under the "reported users" header along with a brief reason on why you suspect someone of being a sockpuppet. But unless it's extremely obvious that it's a match, then it's best to go to an active admin instead, where you can explain in detail why you believe that it's a sockpuppet. Remember that the noticeboard is no place for detailed discussions, as Tucayo said above.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 04:23, 30 July 2016 (EDT)

The account in question was Mariokid (talk) who switched accounts and he now uses MarioKid (talk). That is what I meant about blocking duplicate accounts like how you also blocked my Lord Fawful (talk) and Shroob Master (talk) accounts (the latter of which was my friend) so yeah in purposes like that do the accounts get banned? The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 04:56, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Regular users can't know which accounts are duplicate. We take care of that. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 19:58, 31 July 2016 (EDT)

Restore Template

I know I might sound picky about this but could you please restore Template:Troll-ip just in case we report anonymous vandals because it doesn't seem work on the original troll template so could you please restore it just in case thanks. Do you have the coding? --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 16:39, 2 August 2016 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure I do. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Sprite of Prince Dreambert from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. 16:42, 2 August 2016 (EDT)
Can I see it? --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 16:48, 2 August 2016 (EDT)

A User Focusing on their Userpage

I already warned SmithJrBlaquaLuigi (talk) about their edits exclusive to their userspace and forgetting to fill out or remove aboutfile. Should I elevate both to a single warning? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 04:18, 9 August 2016 (EDT)

I'd wait a bit to see what he does with his next edits. If he keeps going at it, then yes, a Warning would be in place. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 15:47, 9 August 2016 (EDT)
