Template:Minigame-infobox Twist Ending is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. The name of this minigame comes from the term "twist ending". This game is similar to In the Nick of Time from Mario Party 8.

Introduction

The Captain is seen walking inside the room toward a Treasure Chest. Then, the camera splits into four screens and the minigame begins.

Gameplay

The players must tilt the Wii Remote to the right direction to spin a dial that has 8 marks and match its red line with the mark printed on the chest. The dial turns faster as the player rotates the Wii Remote at a greater angle. If the player passes the mark needed to unlock the chest, he or she must spin the dial around once more until it unlocks. When the player unlocks the first treasure chest, the players must open the smaller, silver chest inside it, but its dial has a faster spin and 12 marks. Inside the silver chest is an even smaller golden chest, with an even faster dial with 16 marks.

Ending

The player who opens the golden chest first gets a big diamond. The second player gets a medium-sized diamond. The third-placed gets a small diamond and the last-placed player gets a tiny diamond (if he or she be able to open the chest before the time runs out). These diamonds are colored according to the players' tally color.

In-game text

  • Rules"Unlock the treasure chests by twisting their dials until the marks line up. Be the first to unlock all three chests to win!"
  • Controls"Hold the Wii Remote vertically. Tilt it in the direction of the arrow to turn the dial. The angle of the tilt changes how fast the dial turns."
