Fox McCloud (or just Fox) is the leader of the mercenary team known as Star Fox. The team consists of Fox, Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad, Peppy, Krystal and ROB. He is a master of the Arwing, a compact battle ship, and is also proficient as a sharp-shooter on land with his Blaster. His main ship, the Great Fox, is a huge spaceship with laser beam and rocket capabilities.
He joined the Cornerian Fleet to follow in his father, James McCloud's footsteps.
Relation to Falco
Unlike his other teammates, Falco is one of the few that knows about Fox and his past. He has known Fox the longest time, even from when they were kids. Falco is also Fox's rival because of his piloting skills.
Super Smash Bros. Series
Fox is a speedy character, infact he is the second to Captain Falcon in speed in Super Smash Bros. His B moveset consists of a laser beam attack (B) and a reflective barrier (Down+B). The laser can be shot rapidly (with no stun effect) and the reflective barrier can reflect most projectiles (including items) back the thrower or shooter. In addition, he has a great recovery move in which he can shoot fire from his jetpack to fly a few feet in any direction. The downside is that it takes a few seconds to charge so Fox is susceptible to attacks.
In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Fox adds a new move to his B moveset and can speed dash (Foward B). Speed dashing teleports him a few yards horizontally, (even farther than his Up+B move) though cannot be directed in any other direction. Sometimes it can fail so it is more of a battle move than a recovery move.
Fox is confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Although he has lately been seen helmetless, he will follow his original costume design. He may be helmetless for one of his costume changes though.
Apperances in Mario games
- Fox, along with many other characters, was supposed to be shown in the Starbeans Café instead of Professor E. Gadd in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
- McCloud can be seen in the Nintendo 64 Mario Golf scorechart.
