The Coin Challenge Packs are a series of Coin Rush downloadable content released for New Super Mario Bros. 2. The main goal of the packs are to collect a high enough count of coins and submit them to the leaderboards on the official New Super Mario Bros. 2 website.
Coin Challenge Pack A
Template:Coinpackbox Coin Challenge Pack A[1] (named Challenge the Record A in Japan[2]) is the first of three Coin Rush packs released in Japan, Europe, Australia on October 2nd, 2012, and in North America on October 4th, 2012. It is rated three out of five stars in difficulty.
This pack uses 2 blocks on the SD card when bought alone.
Course 1
Template:Levelbox A sky level similar to World Mushroom-1, with many multicolored blocks and Fire Flower Pipes that spawn Golden Mushrooms.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: In the very start of the level, on the left set of blocks. The player must jump from the second highest block on the right set to reach it.
- Star Coin 2: A hidden vine can be found before the third Star Coin. Using the vine will lead to an area that has the second Star Coin, along with a P Switch.
- Star Coin 3: Within a maze of blocks and pipes. The player must go to the farthest right entrance of the maze and move left.

Course 2
Template:Levelbox A level similar to World 2-2, but in a mountainous area instead out the cloudy skies. This level has platforms that go up or down when the player jumps on them.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: Below and to the left of the second moving platform.
- Star Coin 2: In a bonus area, which can only be accessed by a Cannon Pipe.
- Star Coin 3: Just before the Goal Pole, high above the Fuzzies.

Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: Guarded by a Sledge Bro., on a platform over lava.
- Star Coin 2: In a bonus area filled with Hammer Bros., which can only be accessed by a subtly covered red Pipe. It is below a few Brick Blocks and a P-Switch need to be activated to stop the player from falling into the lava.
- Star Coin 3: Guarded by a Sledge Bro., on Donut Blocks on the top of the screen. The player has to be Raccoon Mario to reach it, or use a Springboard found a screen back.

Course 1
Template:Levelbox A beach level with themed rooms centered around every single power-up in the game. Mastery of each power-up to navigate these rooms is required to get as many coins as possible.
Star Coins
- Star Coin 1: In Racoon Mario's room, Mario must use the Racoon Leaf to fly to the upper area. The Star Coin is on the left hand side.
- Star Coin 2: In Mega Mario's room, Mario must use the Mega Mushroom to go all the way to the right hand side. The Star Coin is located inside a square of blocks only Mega Mario can break.
- Star Coin 3: In Gold Mario's room (the final area), Mario must perform a triple jump through the spikes, following the lines of coins. The Star Coin is located high up and can be collected midway through the third jump.

- Star Coin 1: In the first Underground room, Mario must obtain a Springboard from one of the blocks. Before entering the pipe, he must use the Spring Board to reveal two invisible blocks up above, attached to either wall. Mario must use these to take the Springboard up to this new area, and then use the Springboard to enter the yellow pipe up above, containing the Star Coin.
- Star Coin 2: In the room with the Midway Flag, Mario must wall jump up to the top left to find a secret route. The Star Coin is located within a square of blocks. Two of the bottom blocks are Multiple Coin blocks, and must be successfully hit enough times to turn gold in order to remove them and access the coin.
