12 racers again?
Do you think they will do the 12-player thing again or revert back to just 8? User:DK Fan
- Nobody knows, we don't have enough info yet, so don't speculate about that by now...
- I think since that only a maximum of two characters have been seen in one screenshot, it may be possible to choose the amount of characters to verse, a bit like in the Super Smash Bros. games. SKmaric (talk)
Maybe they will revert it back to 8 since its back on a handheld. -Rosalina1234
- The two racing is probably just VS mode. They'll have more racers on the track at a time. The question is, who?Magikrazy51 (talk)
Guys, didn't you see the "Gameplay" section on the actual Mario Kart 7 page? It says right there that it will bring back the traditional "eight-racers-at-a-time" thing. Just reminding you. Mario Superstar 36 (talk)
First they got eight in the first five games, then twelve in the last game, and now, it goes down to eight again! How about that! All games have 8 at a time, while in Mario Kart Wii, there were twelve so, with the return of eight at a time, I think I'm going to like it! Reddragon19k 17:24, 14 September 2011 (EDT)
I get it. It just reverted back to 8. --Plankton5165 22:28, 21 October 2011 (EDT)
Any Facts?
Do any of you have any facts about mk3ds? -Rosalina 1234
- A few, but this isn't the correct place to talk about it. You can talk on the forums or visit me at my talk page. Bowser's luma
Strictly speaking Bowser's Luma, this might belong on this page because the facts could go on the page. And to answer your question, Rosalina 1234, everything we currently know about MK3DS is(hopefully) already on the page.--=D Smileymiley5001 =D 13:38, 8 March 2011 (EST)

- Again, no. First of all, don't merge this with "Any Facts?". Secondly, this is advertising for your own userpage. Third, this is not related to the improvement of our coverage. Please don't do this again. MrConcreteDonkey 16:42, 2 January 2011 (EST)

In the new vid, you can see Grand Goombas. Were should we put this?--Holyromanemperortatan 21:17, 10 January 2011 (EST)
- You cannot add videos to the regular pages. However, you can still put the screenshot of the video on the Mario Kart 3DS page if you want. Just put the video in your userpage. Happy Halloween!
- I know embed vids cannot go on articles. I was tlking about the info.--Holyromanemperortatan 17:08, 7 February 2011 (EST)
Dixie Kong?
Who got the idea of Dixie Kong in Mario Kart 3DS? Mirai Moon
- I just removed it because of the template. If anybody has some actual sources that say that Dixie Kong will be in this game, feel free to readd it to the article. Supremo 17:41, 18 February 2011 (EST)
Grand Goomba
Yeah, I found Grand Goombas in a trailer, here's a picture. (See: here) The trailer can also be found here. Mirai Moon
Names
Do we officially know the names of the tracks? --File:YoshiMP8a.PNGYoshiGo99 18:32, 23 February 2011 (EST)
Apparently the title right now for this game is Mario Kart 3D, I found it here, on the Nintendo 3DS website! Mirai Moon
Peach appearing?
On this page here, it says Peach will be returning. You think that is true? DK Fan
It doesn't mean that. The writer is explaining the Mario Kart series in general and counting Mario Luigi and Peach as example of the drivers in the games. ¢oincoll€ctor
Oops, cause I just added her, I'll undo that. User:DK Fan
Wuhu Island
After playing Wii Sports Resort so many times, I have a pretty good idea what the track layout in Mario Kart 3DS might be. Plus, Wuhu Island's shape is based off Isle Delfino, so do you think I can create an article for Wuhu Island? SKmaric (talk)
- Hmmmmmm....maybe we should wait until the game comes out until we make a page for Wuhu Island. It does sound like a good idea though.--=D Smileymiley5001 =D 14:34, 10 March 2011 (EST)
I suppose we can just wait until June for E3. SKmaric (talk)
Yeah, we should just wait. Superfiremario
- O_o I didn't see Whu Hu Island at ALL in the E3 trailer. Well, there wasn't much courses in the trailer anyway, so I'm pretty sure we should wait until the game is actually released until we make pages about any of the new courses. SKmaric (talk)
I contacted Nintendo and...
I contacted Nintendo about Mario Kart for the 3DS and Nintendo of America, Barbara Soules said this.
Hi,
Thanks for contacting us about Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS. At this time the only information we have released about games that will be available for the Nintendo 3DS is on our Nintendo 3DS-dedicated website (http://www.nintendo.com/3ds).
However, if the game is being published by one of our licensee partners, you may find information about it at the publisher’s website. If you happen to know who the publisher is, go to the following web address and click on the company name to get contact information:

I’m confident that more specific details about this game will eventually be made available. In the meantime, please continue to check our website regularly. Thank you for your patience.

Mario Kart 3DS: official name?
I went to GameStop to pick up my Nintendo 3DS. The guy at the counter gave me a piece of paper with pictures of games they were allowing preorder for. One of the pictures was this game, and, written in creative font over the picture, said "Mario Kart 3DS". Is this official enough to move the article? A Link to the Present 16:47, 7 April 2011 (EDT)
- I'm not sure, but it's all we've got to go by. We probably won't know if the name is official (or if there is another name) until E3. Mario4Ever (talk)
Possible American Release Date
When I was at GameStop the day before the 3DS was released, I saw a list of upcoming games for each system. Under the DS category, it said "Mario Kart 3DS [...] 8/2/2011" (August 2, 2011). Same for Paper Mario 3DS...I'm not sure if the date are official, though. ! 15:09, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
- I'm not sure about the exact date or Paper Mario, but when I went (as expressed in above), they said that Paper Mario is not available for preorder yet, and that Mario Kart was available at an unknown time in August. A Link to the Present 15:11, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
- Sorry, but sellers such as GameStop and Best Buy have often unreliable information regarding release dates. Wait until Nintendo officially announces it rather than rely on the stockers. Ray Trace(T|C)
- I agree. I just checked IGN, and they don't have one, since they don't announce it until Nintendo does. Mario4Ever (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
- Besides, we should use logic. We still have virtually no information on this game, so it is logical that a release date won't be announced yet. Ray Trace(T|C)
- That, too. Mario4Ever (talk)

Swoopers
Are they confirmed... i mean is there a screen shoot of them Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
- Just because there is a screenshot doesn't mean they're confirmed...as stated above, we don't know a lot about this game and we should just wait until more info comes up, like at E3 or something. ! 15:55, 18 April 2011 (EDT)
- I added that after seeing in one of the links "Speaking of which, the bats are back!". So I said "Well, when in Kero Sewers" and added it. Then, Lindsey151 told me I cited incorrectly. Crapfully yours, The Magikrazy

"New Elements"
it was just announced that Hideki Konno is focusing his time and energy on Mario Kart 3DS. He’s not spilling the beans just yet, but says that Nintendo really wants to “bring a bunch of new elements into the game.” [1]
- Gee, maybe they will have a story this time like in Diddy Kong Racing. DK Fan
- Good, I will add that to the article. Ray Trace(T|C)
- One the "new elements" may be Peppy telling you "Do a abrrel roll!" and you'll be able to do a barrel roll. Now I'll be more serious; the "new elements" may be elements from other Mario games besides the Mario Kart series or entirely concepts that have never been used before in any Mario game.--Holyromanemperortatan 17:22, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
- Good, I will add that to the article. Ray Trace(T|C)
Bianco Hills? (speculation :P)
In the Youtube trailer I saw a level with windmills. It could be a modern version of Bianco Hills, but that's just my speculation.--Holyromanemperortatan 13:26, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
2 laps?
I have a great big question if you go to this video Mario Kart 3D Nintendo 3DS gameplay video and go to the part where they are racing underwater look down towards the bottom, it shows part of the bottom screen and the right corner says 1/2 laps. Is there 2 laps for everyplace or 2 for that one?YoshiGo99
- We don't have enough info to know yet.--Holyromanemperortatan 07:33, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- There are only 2 laps because of the demo allowing time for other people to play the game. --Mechawave 18:34, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
- Well one course I saw had 3 laps while another one had to. Could it be that the course with 2 laps is longer than the others?YoshiGo99
- Only the demo has two laps in each course, ~ Qyzxf (talk)
The background is World 1 NSMBW! -- Superfiremario 20:05, 23 June 2011 (EDT)
Only 8 racers
The article says that there will only be 8 racers per race. Is this confirmed? I don't remember seeing that anywhere, and there are no sources. Yoshiwaker
- In one of the links there is a video and you can see on the screen it says 8th and when the race started there were 2 rows with 4 racers in both.YoshiGo99
- Yes, there are only 8 racers. I'm pretty sure there would've been 12 but the 3DS is quite small (both physically and technically) so it would probably be an eyesore. 12 racers must be unique only to future console versions of Mario Kart. --Mechawave 18:37, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
Music Discovered!
Some music can be heard here, there's a Wii Sports Resort remix for Wuhu Island and a new song for a new course. Judging by some sound effects in the video, it sounds like you will be able to do tricks again. Mirai Moon
Developer
The developer of this game is Nintendo EAD, not generally "Nintendo." All the other Mario Kart games have been developed by them. --Mechawave 18:40, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, but it's not confirmed that Nintendo EAD will be making this, as Nintendo could get a new team to make it, and therefore should not be changed. Mirai Moon
2 returning characters and a newcomer?
Judging from what I know about who would've been included in Mario Kart Wii, I speculate that the three beta characters will be included. Mirai Moon
- Hm, it's possible. DK Fan

Mario Kart 7?
I just noticed that the name of this article was changed to "Mario Kart 7", from "Mario Kart 3DS". Are there any sources that support this change?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Toad85 (talk).
- Yes: [3]. However, I don't think that is the final name. The seven was probably added just to show that it is the seventh game in the series, and not just any Mario Kart. Fawfulfury65
- I also agree with Fawfulfury65 it is probably just there for the cover name because seriously there are more then seven mario kart games including the two arcade games or maybe it counts the main series. User:Jjrapper100
Release Date
In Holland, I was in a shop. There was a flyer on the wall saying: Mario Kart 7: To be released November 2011. I don't know if we should add it to the page. Does anybody know?
--Zaimoon
- If their source is official, sure, but if not, then no. Mario4Ever (talk)
OK, If I have time, perhaps I can return to the shop and ask where they got the information. I'll let you guys know if I find something, OK?

- Well, I just saw a commercial for the 3DS, with Ocarina of Time 3D, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7. It appeared that Royal Raceway and/or Sherbet Land (MKDD!! version) or a similar course will be in the game. Mirai Moon
official page
I'm new here and don't really have time to edit but I noticed there is an offical page for the game out here it seems to have a bit of new info and further confirms the december release date, there's also a video that seems to show more that we've seen so far Reddo 23:36, 22 August 2011 (EDT)
Yes, it does seem to confirm a mountain course, a city course, and a never-before-mentioned desert course. Unfortunately, the video is almost exactly the same as the E3 trailer, the only difference being at the very end where it says Mario Kart 7 instead of Mario Kart. Characters
I talked to a employee at gamestop and he said that their will be a total of 24 characters. He said the characters will be similar to the Mario Kart Wii Roster just slightly different. FireFlower 18:33, 7 September 2011 (EDT)--FireFlower 18:33, 7 September 2011 (EDT)

Bowser's Castle
In the New Courses list I saw "Unnamed futuristic course", does that mean that course with Bowser's emblem on some boards above the course (maybe Bowser's Castle)? Lakituthequick 10:56, 13 September 2011 (EDT)
Metal Mario
Is true that Metal Mario will be a Playable Character? What I'v seen in the screenshots is a Metal Mario driving a metal kart. That should be considered possibly a Power-up as the kart is also metal (compare how the kart looks when using also to the Star or Boo, the also change in appearance). ¢oincoll€ctor
- From what I've gathered, Metal Mario is a separate entity in this game. It's not that unheard of, since it has happened before. M&SG (talk) 12:36, 13 September 2011 (EDT)
He's definitely a playable character. Go to the link and click the second video. It's the developer interview translated. He mentions Metal Mario. http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/59JiheYMlzjHqlmUHkP5ESn3QOUHqyOq User:ChewbecaXD
Thunder Cloud
Why is this still listed under returning items? It's been like that for ages. Also, it wasn't seen in any gameplay at the Nintendo conference so shouldn't it just be removed unless it's confirmed. I don't think it's likely though. The item cycle didn't show it once and I don't think they would hide a returning item. User:ChewbecaXD
Well looks like someone has fixed it within the past hour. Never mind. User:ChewbecaXD
Lakitu for the first time as a playable character?
I just saw a red shelled Lakitu that is in the game along with the green shelled version. What's the difference Reddragon19k
- One is the referee (green), the other is the racer (red). M&SG (talk) 16:54, 13 September 2011 (EDT)
- Oh, I see. Thanks for the difference! I'll see them when the game comes out on December 4th! Reddragon19k
Rosalina reference?
Does anyone have any references to having Rosalina in the game? I saw Wario in a picture, but I haven't heard anything of Rosalina. Another thing, I heard from an EB Games employee that King Boo is going to appear in the game, however, I wouldn't put it on the page, I just wanted to share my intel. Mirai Moon

King boo returning and ordinary boo as a newcomer?
Not sure if this belongs on the forum or not I'm new(as a member anyway) and I dont like forums anyway
Since boo hasn't been confirmed to return as a item could this mean king boo is returning? And possibly an ordinary boo may become a newcomer?
This is for the Forums, but King Boo might be in it due to Rosalina.YoshiGo99
First-Person Mode for the first time?
I do know that there will be a first-person mode in this game but, we still don't have information yet. Do we need more info about this new view? Reddragon19k
Dry Dry Outpost
Past Mario Kart games have had Dry Dry Desert and Dry Dry Ruins. The buildings in the bazaar course look similar to the ones from Dry Dry Outpost. I bet the the nighttime bazaar course is Dry Dry Outpost.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by IGGY7735 (talk).
- First, in my opinion, it looks nothing like Dry Dry Outpost. Second, the first two courses you mentioned are not affiliated with the Paper Mario versions in any way. Finally, save this speculation for the forums. Ray Trace(T|C)

Queen bee and Wiggler?
On the forum, rumour has it that Queen Bee and Wiggler are newcomers, both, but especially Queen bee seem pretty far fetched, has anyone got any reliable sources to justify it, or is it just a rumour. Lily 08:11, 30 October 2011 (EDT)
There's a reference link to a screenshots from Nintendo Power of both in the game,so yes they are newcomers,Wiggler is not a bad choice she's been in the Mario series since pretty much the beginning, but chosing Queen Bee is a mystery to me such a underdeveloped character,Boo would've been a better choice(I know King Boo has been in the series since Double dash) but having a normal Boo would be better, but as users have said unlockable characters are never shown so who knows what other Characters Nintendo have added. Donaldthescotishtwin
This Mario Kart is the most absurd since Super Mario Kart :|
Metal Mario and "Honey Queen" as unlockable characters, and no Waluigi. WHY ?

Why do we list Queen Bee as "Honey Queen". It's probably her japanese name, but even if it is, It's Queen Bee and if the character has an official english name, that's the name we use, right. Or did Nintendo change her Japanese name and this is some other Queen Bee. (Like King Boo from SMS). Sorry for possible bad spelling and I NEED A REPLY FAST! Most of my questions on talk pages haven't been responded too.... NOTE: I Know that the source calls her "Honey Queen", but that was a Japanese Source I think? User:MarioMaster720
- It wasn't a Japenese souece. The most we know right now is that she is called Honey Queen in the American Nintendo Power magazine. Please stop editing the name into Queen Bee. ~ Qyzxf (talk)
I'm not editing it! I was just wondering because the name changes from Queen Bee to Honey Queen all the time. User:MarioMaster720
- I didn't mean it to you, but to everyone. In the official source, she is called Honey Queen, so that sould be it untill the game's release or when it's changed to Queen Bee officially. (Sorry if I sound rude in my comments) ~ Qyzxf (talk)
Still more Characters to come?
[7] Nintendo Power also hints that there are more secret characters yet to be revealed, too. Who else do you think will be making their playable Kart debut this December?
The newest edition of Nintendo Power magazine is shedding light on that mystery by revealing a few new playable characters for the fans, while keeping the promise that there will be many other unlockable characters that will remain secret until the game’s release date on December 4th.]

Dutch Translation
About a month ago, a Nintendo news article reported something unique for the Mario Series. Mario Kart 7 (along with Super Mario 3D Land) will be translated to Dutch. The only Mario game ever to be translated to Dutch before was Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, a crossover game. Because of this, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 will be the first mainstream Mario-titles to be translated to Dutch. Here is Nintendo's official confirmation (the article is in Dutch). I thought it would be handy if I shared the info with you.

- If this wiki were able to accept general info like this, then it would be okay to place that in as noteworthy trivia. I do however think this is noteworthy stuff for another Nintendo-related Wiki, though. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 17:49, 30 October 2011 (EDT)
Nintendo eShop channel confirmed Portuguese and Russian are also available languages. This is completely new for the Mario series.

Could R.O.B be in the game ?
I've found, on this image, something strange:
Who is the character, at the background ? It can't be Lakitu or Metal Mario. We also can forget Bowser, DK, Wario, Shy Guy and Honey Queen, these characters are too fat. It doesn't looks like to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi or Koopa. And Peach, Daisy and Rosalina aren't giraffes ... It can be Toad, but strangely, this character seem to have dark colors, although he is at sun.
This T form really looks like to R.O.B. And the kart is like the one from Mario Kart DS. Fire-Luigi 06:19, 31 October 2011 (EDT)
- Interesting. However, the light and shadows on the character are very strange and it's hard to tell what is is. I think it's too early to confirm it's R.O.B.

I think it's Rosalina. Bro Hammer (Talk • Cont) 19:16, 1 November 2011 (EDT)

How did Donaldthescotishtwin obtain this image: (http://www.mariowiki.com/File:Mk7cartsprite.jpg)? Is there a site for them? Did he recreate it? Does someone have a dev 3DS that can take screenshots? Datkip 13:35, 31 October 2011 (EDT)
Like most 3DS icons, they're from the Japanese Website.

New Trailer
There is a new Mario Kart 7 trailer. Here is the link: http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/10/mario-kart-7---new-trailer-information-roundup.html. Tails777 Talk to me!
Waluigi is in the game !!
Yeah, look at this !
It's really fuzzy, sorry. It's from this video: http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/10/mario-kart-7---new-trailer-information-roundup.html at 1:11 :D Fire-Luigi 06:47, 2 November 2011 (EDT)
- Next time don't take screenshots with camera. SWFlash
What the... Where is Waluigi! Just because Waluigi Pinball is a track doesn't mean that Waluigi is playable! User:MarioMaster720
He's referring the purple kart with purple glider you can't see it well, but I'm sure waluigi will be playable. Donaldthescotishtwin
I saw Waluigi In the Kart. So, this means he is playable.--File:Yoshidarkblue.pngNew Super Yoshi 14:29, 2 November 2011 (EDT)
Hmmm.... possibly, I think we better wait for more evidence before we can say its definitely him... Lily
With regards to the Dutch translation for MK7
I agree with MeritC in that it isn't what we look for in trivia. However, I think it does need to be mentioned in the article somewhere, as Arend has pointed out its high notability in Nintendo's history. This being said, it might actually be good in the beginning paragraphs of the article, as it is among the general and notable information we stick there often. Anyone against this? Bop1996 (Talk)
Waluigi Possibility
Hi! Im new here, sorry if i mess anything up posting in the discussion. If this needs to be moved please tell me and i will do so promptly. Im not sure if this would go in the forums, but i was watching the flower cup trailer and saw a purple mass near the end when Mario was flying off the ramp. I think that may be waluigi considering no one else in the game is a majority shade of purple. I took a prntscreen pic and added some other shots at the bottom for reference.
- You didn't do anything wrong (aside from removing one curly brace up there, but I fixed it). We can't really tell from any photos so far if that is Waluigi or not, so it isn't in the article yet. Bop1996 (Talk)
...Wait, that DOES look like Waluigi... but it could be Honey queen as I think she might be purple too... Lily 09:50, 5 November 2011 (EDT)
- It also looks like a purple DK. Mirai Moon
- I think it's actually Honey Queen
The confirmed Roster?
A 'Voice list' has been revealed leaking characters, does anyone know if it confirms anything or if we should wait for more evidence before adding anything? Lily
Depends, do you have a link to the list, because some websites like imbd create list from speculation.

- Maybe can you just give me the link? I'm curious... ~ Qyzxf (talk)
- Heres the link: [8] bowser jrs number 1 fan
- Cool, so if that is a true list, that means that Waluigi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Daisy, Baby Peach, Diddy Kong and Toadette will appear. Mirai Moon

Dont know if this is true or not [9] --NJE 16:10, 6 November 2011 (EST)
I can confirm 100% that it's fake because Queen Bee and Mii aren't included. I commented on that stupid fake video ;) User:MarioMaster720
- It also says there are 36 characters (12 characters x 3 categories) Mirai Moon
Yeah, its fake. Wiggler and Honey Queen have voice actors. yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk)

Parts Names
Should I redlink them or leave them as they are? I'm not sure if they need separate articles in the future, but I would like to know if I should red link them for now.
- I'm pretty sure the parts will get their own articles; statistics for each part will need to be delved into. I would red link them, but I'm sort of new here, so I can't really make that judgement. Datkip 12:42, 9 November 2011 (EST)
- I suggest you leave them. We can wait until the game is released and then create articles for the parts. Tails777 Talk to me!
- But do you know why I suggest it? So people can create articles on the go. That's why we sometimes create redlink articles before the game is released. Ray Trace(T|C)
