12 racers again?

Do you think they will do the 12-player thing again or revert back to just 8? User:DK Fan

Nobody knows, we don't have enough info yet, so don't speculate about that by now...

¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

I think since that only a maximum of two characters have been seen in one screenshot, it may be possible to choose the amount of characters to verse, a bit like in the Super Smash Bros. games. SKmaric (talk)

Maybe they will revert it back to 8 since its back on a handheld. -Rosalina1234

The two racing is probably just VS mode. They'll have more racers on the track at a time. The question is, who?Magikrazy51 (talk)

Guys, didn't you see the "Gameplay" section on the actual Mario Kart 7 page? It says right there that it will bring back the traditional "eight-racers-at-a-time" thing. Just reminding you. Mario Superstar 36 (talk)

First they got eight in the first five games, then twelve in the last game, and now, it goes down to eight again! How about that! All games have 8 at a time, while in Mario Kart Wii, there were twelve so, with the return of eight at a time, I think I'm going to like it! Reddragon19k 17:24, 14 September 2011 (EDT)

Any Facts?

Do any of you have any facts about mk3ds? -Rosalina 1234

A few, but this isn't the correct place to talk about it. You can talk on the forums or visit me at my talk page. Blue Pianta Bowser's lumaArtwork of a Koopa Paratroopa in New Super Mario Bros. (later used in Mario Super Sluggers, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Run)

Strictly speaking Bowser's Luma, this might belong on this page because the facts could go on the page. And to answer your question, Rosalina 1234, everything we currently know about MK3DS is(hopefully) already on the page.--=D Smileymiley5001 =D 13:38, 8 March 2011 (EST)

In the new vid, you can see Grand Goombas. Were should we put this?--Holyromanemperortatan 21:17, 10 January 2011 (EST)

You cannot add videos to the regular pages. However, you can still put the screenshot of the video on the Mario Kart 3DS page if you want. Just put the video in your userpage. Artwork of Dry Bones from Mario Party 8.Happy Halloween! Bone Goomba.png

Dixie Kong?

Who got the idea of Dixie Kong in Mario Kart 3DS? Mirai Moon

I just removed it because of the template. If anybody has some actual sources that say that Dixie Kong will be in this game, feel free to readd it to the article. Tadaa!2.gifSupremoTadaaa!.gif 17:41, 18 February 2011 (EST)

Apparently the title right now for this game is Mario Kart 3D, I found it here, on the Nintendo 3DS website! Mirai Moon

Peach appearing?

On this page here, it says Peach will be returning. You think that is true? DK Fan

It doesn't mean that. The writer is explaining the Mario Kart series in general and counting Mario Luigi and Peach as example of the drivers in the games. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Oops, cause I just added her, I'll undo that. User:DK Fan

Wuhu Island

After playing Wii Sports Resort so many times, I have a pretty good idea what the track layout in Mario Kart 3DS might be. Plus, Wuhu Island's shape is based off Isle Delfino, so do you think I can create an article for Wuhu Island? SKmaric (talk)

Hmmmmmm....maybe we should wait until the game comes out until we make a page for Wuhu Island. It does sound like a good idea though.--=D Smileymiley5001 =D 14:34, 10 March 2011 (EST)

I suppose we can just wait until June for E3. SKmaric (talk)

Yeah, we should just wait. Glitchy Missingno.jpeg SuperfiremarioGlitchy Missingno.jpeg

O_o I didn't see Whu Hu Island at ALL in the E3 trailer. Well, there wasn't much courses in the trailer anyway, so I'm pretty sure we should wait until the game is actually released until we make pages about any of the new courses. SKmaric (talk)

I contacted Nintendo and...

I contacted Nintendo about Mario Kart for the 3DS and Nintendo of America, Barbara Soules said this.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us about Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS. At this time the only information we have released about games that will be available for the Nintendo 3DS is on our Nintendo 3DS-dedicated website (http://www.nintendo.com/3ds).

However, if the game is being published by one of our licensee partners, you may find information about it at the publisher’s website. If you happen to know who the publisher is, go to the following web address and click on the company name to get contact information:

I’m confident that more specific details about this game will eventually be made available. In the meantime, please continue to check our website regularly. Thank you for your patience.

Mario Kart 3DS: official name?

I went to GameStop to pick up my Nintendo 3DS. The guy at the counter gave me a piece of paper with pictures of games they were allowing preorder for. One of the pictures was this game, and, written in creative font over the picture, said "Mario Kart 3DS". Is this official enough to move the article? A Link to the Present 16:47, 7 April 2011 (EDT)

I'm not sure, but it's all we've got to go by. We probably won't know if the name is official (or if there is another name) until E3. Mario4Ever (talk)

Possible American Release Date

When I was at GameStop the day before the 3DS was released, I saw a list of upcoming games for each system. Under the DS category, it said "Mario Kart 3DS [...] 8/2/2011" (August 2, 2011). Same for Paper Mario 3DS...I'm not sure if the date are official, though. aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 15:09, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

I'm not sure about the exact date or Paper Mario, but when I went (as expressed in above), they said that Paper Mario is not available for preorder yet, and that Mario Kart was available at an unknown time in August. A Link to the Present 15:11, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
Sorry, but sellers such as GameStop and Best Buy have often unreliable information regarding release dates. Wait until Nintendo officially announces it rather than rely on the stockers. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)
I agree. I just checked IGN, and they don't have one, since they don't announce it until Nintendo does. Mario4Ever (talk) 15:17, 9 April 2011 (EDT)
Besides, we should use logic. We still have virtually no information on this game, so it is logical that a release date won't be announced yet. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)
That, too. Mario4Ever (talk)
...um...ok. aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 20:33, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

Swoopers

Are they confirmed... i mean is there a screen shoot of them Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)

Just because there is a screenshot doesn't mean they're confirmed...as stated above, we don't know a lot about this game and we should just wait until more info comes up, like at E3 or something. aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 15:55, 18 April 2011 (EDT)
I added that after seeing in one of the links "Speaking of which, the bats are back!". So I said "Well, when in Kero Sewers" and added it. Then, Lindsey151 told me I cited incorrectly. Crapfully yours, The Magikrazy Magikrazy.png

This one? It's pretty poor quality, though. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)
it has just as much quality as the blooper picture Mario using a HammerCalapso Koopa 12.gif - It's a me, Mario! - Mario.gif
But the Blooper one has higher resolution. I can barely see the details on that picture. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)

I had to get the Blooper image from the trailer so it dosen't have much quality. Please don't delete it.--File:Yoshi4.jpegYoshidude99 03:22, 3 May 2011 (EDT)

"New Elements"

it was just announced that Hideki Konno is focusing his time and energy on Mario Kart 3DS. He’s not spilling the beans just yet, but says that Nintendo really wants to “bring a bunch of new elements into the game.” [1] Mario using a HammerCalapso Koopa 12.gif - It's a me, Mario! - Mario.gif

Gee, maybe they will have a story this time like in Diddy Kong Racing. DK Fan
Good, I will add that to the article. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)
One the "new elements" may be Peppy telling you "Do a abrrel roll!" and you'll be able to do a barrel roll. Now I'll be more serious; the "new elements" may be elements from other Mario games besides the Mario Kart series or entirely concepts that have never been used before in any Mario game.--Holyromanemperortatan 17:22, 17 May 2011 (EDT)
Um, we have the forums for a reason you know. BabyLuigiFire.pngRay Trace(T|C)

Bianco Hills? (speculation :P)

In the Youtube trailer I saw a level with windmills. It could be a modern version of Bianco Hills, but that's just my speculation.--Holyromanemperortatan 13:26, 7 June 2011 (EDT)

2 laps?

I have a great big question if you go to this video Mario Kart 3D Nintendo 3DS gameplay video and go to the part where they are racing underwater look down towards the bottom, it shows part of the bottom screen and the right corner says 1/2 laps. Is there 2 laps for everyplace or 2 for that one?Fuzzy in New Super Mario Bros. UYoshiGo99Artwork of a Yoshi egg on a tilt. It is unknown whether this artwork was released with a certain game or not.

We don't have enough info to know yet.--Holyromanemperortatan 07:33, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
There are only 2 laps because of the demo allowing time for other people to play the game. --Mechawave 18:34, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
Well one course I saw had 3 laps while another one had to. Could it be that the course with 2 laps is longer than the others?Fuzzy in New Super Mario Bros. UYoshiGo99Artwork of a Yoshi egg on a tilt. It is unknown whether this artwork was released with a certain game or not.

Only 8 racers

The article says that there will only be 8 racers per race. Is this confirmed? I don't remember seeing that anywhere, and there are no sources. YoshiwakerTyranitar.png

In one of the links there is a video and you can see on the screen it says 8th and when the race started there were 2 rows with 4 racers in both.Fuzzy in New Super Mario Bros. UYoshiGo99Artwork of a Yoshi egg on a tilt. It is unknown whether this artwork was released with a certain game or not.
Yes, there are only 8 racers. I'm pretty sure there would've been 12 but the 3DS is quite small (both physically and technically) so it would probably be an eyesore. 12 racers must be unique only to future console versions of Mario Kart. --Mechawave 18:37, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

Music Discovered!

Some music can be heard here, there's a Wii Sports Resort remix for Wuhu Island and a new song for a new course. Judging by some sound effects in the video, it sounds like you will be able to do tricks again. Mirai Moon

Developer

The developer of this game is Nintendo EAD, not generally "Nintendo." All the other Mario Kart games have been developed by them. --Mechawave 18:40, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

Yeah, but it's not confirmed that Nintendo EAD will be making this, as Nintendo could get a new team to make it, and therefore should not be changed. Mirai Moon

2 returning characters and a newcomer?

Judging from what I know about who would've been included in Mario Kart Wii, I speculate that the three beta characters will be included. Mirai Moon

Hm, it's possible. DK Fan

Mario Kart 7?

I just noticed that the name of this article was changed to "Mario Kart 7", from "Mario Kart 3DS". Are there any sources that support this change?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Toad85 (talk).

Yes: [3]. However, I don't think that is the final name. The seven was probably added just to show that it is the seventh game in the series, and not just any Mario Kart. Fawfulfury65
I also agree with Fawfulfury65 it is probably just there for the cover name because seriously there are more then seven mario kart games including the two arcade games or maybe it counts the main series. User:Jjrapper100

Release Date

In Holland, I was in a shop. There was a flyer on the wall saying: Mario Kart 7: To be released November 2011. I don't know if we should add it to the page. Does anybody know?
--Zaimoon

If their source is official, sure, but if not, then no. Mario4Ever (talk)

OK, If I have time, perhaps I can return to the shop and ask where they got the information. I'll let you guys know if I find something, OK?

It is official! It will come out on December 1, 2, and 4 respectively. Check the article page and see it! Reddragon19k 18:45, 15 September 2011 (EDT)

I'm new here and don't really have time to edit but I noticed there is an offical page for the game out here it seems to have a bit of new info and further confirms the december release date, there's also a video that seems to show more that we've seen so far Reddo 23:36, 22 August 2011 (EDT)

Yes, it does seem to confirm a mountain course, a city course, and a never-before-mentioned desert course. Unfortunately, the video is almost exactly the same as the E3 trailer, the only difference being at the very end where it says Mario Kart 7 instead of Mario Kart. Characters

I talked to a employee at gamestop and he said that their will be a total of 24 characters. He said the characters will be similar to the Mario Kart Wii Roster just slightly different. FireFlower 18:33, 7 September 2011 (EDT)--FireFlower 18:33, 7 September 2011 (EDT)

  • Hm, that could work, but I heard a source saying there will be 20. User:DK Fan

Bowser's Castle

In the New Courses list I saw "Unnamed futuristic course", does that mean that course with Bowser's emblem on some boards above the course (maybe Bowser's Castle)? Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 10:56, 13 September 2011 (EDT)

Metal Mario

Is true that Metal Mario will be a Playable Character? What I'v seen in the screenshots is a Metal Mario driving a metal kart. That should be considered possibly a Power-up as the kart is also metal (compare how the kart looks when using also to the Star or Boo, the also change in appearance). ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

From what I've gathered, Metal Mario is a separate entity in this game. It's not that unheard of, since it has happened before. RedYoshiMK7Signature.png M&SG (talk) 12:36, 13 September 2011 (EDT)

He's definitely a playable character. Go to the link and click the second video. It's the developer interview translated. He mentions Metal Mario. http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/59JiheYMlzjHqlmUHkP5ESn3QOUHqyOq User:ChewbecaXD

Thunder Cloud

Why is this still listed under returning items? It's been like that for ages. Also, it wasn't seen in any gameplay at the Nintendo conference so shouldn't it just be removed unless it's confirmed. I don't think it's likely though. The item cycle didn't show it once and I don't think they would hide a returning item. User:ChewbecaXD

Well looks like someone has fixed it within the past hour. Never mind. User:ChewbecaXD

Lakitu for the first time as a playable character?

I just saw a red shelled Lakitu that is in the game along with the green shelled version. What's the difference Reddragon19k

One is the referee (green), the other is the racer (red). RedYoshiMK7Signature.png M&SG (talk) 16:54, 13 September 2011 (EDT)
Oh, I see. Thanks for the difference! I'll see them when the game comes out on December 4th! Reddragon19k

Rosalina reference?

Does anyone have any references to having Rosalina in the game? I saw Wario in a picture, but I haven't heard anything of Rosalina. Another thing, I heard from an EB Games employee that King Boo is going to appear in the game, however, I wouldn't put it on the page, I just wanted to share my intel. Mirai Moon

Dry Dry Outpost

Past Mario Kart games have had Dry Dry Desert and Dry Dry Ruins. The buildings in the bazaar course look similar to the ones from Dry Dry Outpost. I bet the the nighttime bazaar course is Dry Dry Outpost.
