Template:Articleabout Template:Character-infobox Baby Donkey Kong is Donkey Kong's younger self which debuted in the DS game, Yoshi's Island DS. His most recent appearance was in Mario Super Sluggers. Until now he has appeared in two games and is playable in both of them. He is one of the seven Star Children.
History
Yoshi series
Yoshi's Island DS
In Yoshi Island DS, Bowser was looking for the seven Star Children and orders Kamek to kidnap all the babies from the Mushroom Kingdom, including Baby Donkey Kong. For unknown reasons Baby DK is left behind before arriving at Bowser's Castle.
Yoshi and Baby Mario find him, and then the baby ape helps in saving Baby Peach from the ukikis and after saving her, Baby DK decides to join Yoshi and the babies.
After a long journey they arrived at Bowser's Castle. When they arrived at the top of the castle they fought Baby Bowser and then Bowser, defeating both of them thus saving Baby Luigi and the other babies. Baby Donkey Kong is revealed to be one of the seven Star Children.
Aside from being the most powerful baby, he has multiple abilities that help the Yoshis many times:
- He can climb vines and chains, even hang onto a swinging rope and using the momentum to move forward.
- If the player presses ↓ and then the swallowing button (either Y or B depending on control settings), DK can do a shoulder charge that can break through dirt walls, some enemies, and tough blocks.
- Eggs thrown by Yoshi have an explosive effect – it is possible to defeat more than one enemy and activate ? Clouds, defeat enemies, or grab items just out of reach by a wall by the mini-blast.
- When a Yoshi ground pounds on poles, the pole goes all the way down on the first try, relating to DK's power.
Mario Baseball series
Mario Super Sluggers
Baby Donkey Kong is playable in Mario Super Sluggers for the Wii console. This is his first appearance in a Mario sports game. He is an unlockable sub-character. In challenge mode he helps Mario and the others beat Bowser and his son Bowser Jr. His bat is a banana.
His bat consists of a yellow banana. Baby DK's batting entrance includes him rolling. He has good chemistry with Yoshi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Dixie Kong, Funky Kong and Tiny Kong; he has bad chemistry with King K. Rool and Kritter. His fielding ability is Clamber, meaning he can climb walls to catch the ball. He is good at fielding and batting, but is bad at running and pitching. His default bat position is right, while the glove position is left.
Baby Donkey Kong is available in the Mario Super Sluggers online card collection. He was from the first characters to be released, but was removed and made available later. In Double Play he can be combined with Donkey Kong to get the level 2 card, Donkey Kong Star Swing. His rookie year is 2006, which refers to the year he debuted.
Physical Description
He currently has brown fur and dark eyes, just like his older self. His clothing consists of a red monogrammed bib, just like the current DK has a monogrammed tie.
