The Zap Orb first appeared in Mario Party 6, where players could only place it on a space as a roadblock; it cost fifteen coins at the Orb Shop. Opponents that passed a space containing the orb got shocked by Zaps for 5 coins, and lost another five coins for every remaining space. In Mario Party 7, it was used again for the same purpose, but opponents only lost three coins per space instead of five.
