Orange Yoshis are a type of Yoshi. The first appearance of an Orange Yoshi was in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES) as a playable character, though more commonly remembered as a playable character in "Super Mario Sunshine" (NGC). In Sunshine, all Yoshis are green and only become a different color after eating fruits. If Yoshi ate a Pineapple or a Papaya, he would turn orange. While orange, Yoshi's juice would turn enemies into platforms that remained stationary.

An Orange Yoshi later reappeared in Yoshi's Island DS, and was only playable on the sixth level of each world.

Another Orange Yoshi appeared in Game & Watch Gallery 3 as a playable character in the modern version of Greenhouse.

In the upcoming title, Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Orange Yoshi will be returning, and it will have the ability to run at an incredibly fast pace, which enables it to run up steep slopes.

Appearance

In Super Mario Sunshine, Orange Yoshi had orange skin and shoes with a red saddle. In later appearances, Orange Yoshi wore blue shoes. Orange Yoshi should not be confused with Brown Yoshi, who only appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and the Game Boy Advance port on every sixth level.
