The course is set in a frozen environment, starting out on an ice rink where some ice skating Shy Guys go ice skating and serve as hazards. A lake can be fallen into on the right side. The rink leads into a frozen tunnel with some pillars. The tunnel exits on a short snowy path that leads to another ice rink with giant Freezies. If a player should touch one, he or she will be frozen and the Freezie will slide along the rink at an angle relevant to how it was hit. Should the Freezie hit a wall, it will shatter. At the end of the area, the course repeats.
This course takes place in a different environment rather than racing in ice and water in Mario Kart 64. It takes place in an ice rink, then a snow area and soon, another icy place with Freezies, waiting for the player to get frozen by them. In the ice rink are Shy Guys skating around. It is possible to knock them into the water, but only if the player has the time and items (such as a Star, shells, and some Special Items) to do so, which permanently knocks the Shy Guys out of the track.

After the first twist with some Item Boxes is a slight right curve into the ice rink area, with Blue Shy Guys skating around. Any contact initiated with the Shy Guys will spin the player out unless he/she has a Star in effect, which will knock the Shy Guys. On the right of the skating Shy Guys is a large opening in the ice, which will lead the player directly into frozen water. Lakitu will pick the player up if he/she happens to fall in there, and the player will be in an ice cube when Lakit picks him/her up. Past three Blue Shy Guys, on a slightly straight path through the small ice rink is a pair of Red Shy Guys, skating left and right just before the entrance to the tunnel.

After the pair of Shy Guys is an ice tunnel, which curves slightly to the right with some item boxes in it. After the curve is where the player sees an ice pillar. The player may choose to go left and right of the pillar while turning left. The left area of the pillar is more narrow and saves more time, but the right has more space and item boxes for the player to deal with. After the ice pillar is a very slight twist to the left that leads outside.

Outside, the player will turn left and into a very short straight section of the road. The road is less slippery here since the player races in the snow rather than the ice. After the straight section of the road is a turn right that leads into another short straight section of the road and a turn right, with some item boxes on the turn right. The right turn leads straight into another ice rink.

The second ice rink contains no Shy Guys, but Freezies rather, that will freeze the player upon contact and will make the player lose any item he/she currently has. Most items simply bounce off Freezies, but some make budge or completely destory the Freezies. The Freezies won't go away on the first effect of it; it will only get destroyed if it crashes into a wall. There is a curve right and then left, with some smaller Freezies and near the end of the rink is a Freezie in the center of the road. After that Freezie is the starting line again, which leads back into the same part of the beginning of the track.

Shortcuts
It is possible to use the slanted walls as jumps, and therefore, shortcuts, but if the player fails to clear the Jump and lands on the snowy bank, a moderate speed deduction is the penalty.

Sherbet Land is a snow and ice themed racetrack found in Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Both Sherbet Lands differ widely from each other; one has Penguins sliding across the ice throughout the entire track while the other has Shy Guys skating in one part of the track and Freezies in another. Every place that has "Sherbet Land" in its name is usually associated with ice.

Sherbet Land also appears outside the Mario Kart series such as Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games as a course in a Dream Event along with several other courses such as Mario Circuit.

Appearances

Mario Kart 64

Template:Racecourse Penguins litter the track, causing spin-outs if a racer hits them. A player can cut a corner by hopping over a small crevice in some spots, but risks falling into the ice-cold water below. A cave with a lot of penguins marks the halfway point of the track. The course resembles the Vanilla Lake 1 and Vanilla Lake 2 courses from Super Mario Kart.

This course returns in Mario Kart Wii. The graphics have improved on this track like all the other Retro courses. The entire course is offroad, so the best vehicle to use is the Magikruiser. A trick ramp has been placed near the locate of the hidden item boxes and Dash Panels have been placed in the cave. It appears as the first course of the Banana Cup.

Course Layout

The course starts out in a snowy road, in between two brown walls with eyes on them.
