Template:SSB Infobox Ivysaur (Japanese フシギソウ Fushigisou, German Bisaknosp, French Herbizarre) is a grass/poison-type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as a playable character. Although it is not a standard playable character, it is one of the three Pokémon used by the Pokémon Trainer, the others being Squirtle and Charizard. It is the second Pokémon used in the attack Pokémon Change, coming after Squirtle. Charizard comes after Ivysaur, when Ivysaur is returned. During the Subspace Emissary of the game, it is the second Pokémon that Pokémon Trainer gets. It is seen as a trophy and after the trainer launched his Pokéball, the Pokéball captures the trophy. It is notable that Ivysaur is the only truly quadrupedal character.
Special Moveset in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Bullet Seed
It is his standard special move. When used, Ivysaur will shoot a barrage of seeds upwards into the sky, hurting anyone who happens to jump over Ivysaur. It appears that the attack might be multi-fire, but this is unconfirmed. There is an actual attack in the Pokémon series, known as Bullet Seed, which can be learned by Ivysaur, but not naturally. Bullet Seed can be used by Kirby after Ivysaur's powers have been copied.
Razor Leaf
Razor Leaf is the name of Ivysaur's side special move. In this move, Ivysaur will shoot out a minorly glowing leaf at an opponent. The attack moves very slowly, but if an opponent is hit by it, the opponent will take 7% damage.
However, in the Pokémon series, a player would shoot out a great deal of very speedy leaves, although in Brawl, it is just one very slow leaf.
Vine Whip
This is Ivysaur's up special move, and will make use of the Tether Recovery tactic. When Ivysaur is sent falling off the edge, the player should use Vine Whip, and Ivysaur will grab onto a ledge with his vine, and retract the vine, to bring itself back up safety. However, the vine does have a limit to how far it can reach, and it won't go too far. Vine Whip does more damage if the opponent is hit farther along the vine; being hit by the tip of the vine causes a substantial amount of damage. Vine Whip is an actual attack in the Pokémon series.
Pokemon Change
Switching out Ivysaur will automatically summon Charizard.
Solar Beam
Ivysaurs role in Triple Finish is to use Solar Beam. Much unlike Squirtle and Charizard, Ivysaur shoots this devistating beam from the plant on its back. This part of the attack traps the foe and keeps them from dodging the entire Final Smash.

It has a flower bulb on its back, the weight of which has made it develop strong legs and hips. If the blossom gets too big, the Pokémon can't stand on two legs alone. At a certain level, it evolves into Venusaur. When this happens, the bulb absorbs nutrients and blossoms into a large-petaled flower. |
