Chat Now

The chatroom is meant to be a safe place to hang out and enjoy yourself while chatting about anything. When you first enter, you'll automatically join the mariowiki channel.

You are now ready to chat! You have some customization options:

• Text colors. Left-click on a color on the right to make it your text color, right-click on another color to make it your background color.
• Smilies. We have several smilies, including Mario-themed smilies. See the table below for a list of them all and the code to input to have them appear in your messages.
• Private chatting. Double-click on a user's name in the right-hand side to talk to him or her alone. It will appear in a separate tab on the bottom row.

Here are a few of the many commands you can use in the chat:

• /j #[roomname] – join another room by opening another tab on the top row, with #[roomname] being one of the following:

• /nick [nickname] – another way of changing your name
• /query [username] – a fancy way of opening a private-message tab.
• /me [blah blah] – a fancy way of referring to yourself (/me goes away results in * [Username] goes away in a purple-colored font)
• /msg NickServ OR /ns +
  • REGISTER [password] [email] – how to make sure no one can impersonate you. Everytime you change your nick, you must identify yourself ↑
  • IDENTIFY [password] – if you registered your name, this is how you enter your password
  • SET password [new password] – if you want to change your password, this is how you do it. You must identify yourself first.
  • KILL [nickname] [password] – if you fail to enter your name within the time limit, this is what you do to get your name back.
  • DROP [password] – if you want to unregister your nick, this is how you drop it. Note that any nick not used for 30 days will be auto-dropped.
• /clear – delete all text from the chat window.
• /ignore [username] – Makes the chat not display any messages from the given username. Useful if someone is spamming.
• /unignore [username] – Reverses the effect of /ignore.

Rules

There are a few restrictions we must institute to prevent any trouble.

No extreme profanity. The following is a list of acceptable curse words: Hell Damn Crap Ass Any other curse words stated in #mariowiki will result in a kick and/or ban. Do not overuse the aforementioned curses. Overuse will result in a kick and/or ban; overuse is declared only by the Ops. No flaming. Comments deemed as flaming will result in a kick and/or ban. This includes complaining to the Ops that they are Ops, and that you are not. No sexually-oriented conversing. Comments deemed as sexually-oriented will result in a kick and/or ban. No spamming or trolling. Typing gibberish or comments repeated more than 4 times will result in a kick and/or ban. No impersonating. Changing your nickname is only acceptable as long as it is linked to your username in some manner. Nick abusing will result in a kick and/or ban. No flooding. Talking like this is unacceptable and will result in a kick and/or ban. No requesting promotion. Asking to be an Op and/or Sysop will result in a kick and/or ban. No advertising. Advertising your channel or wiki in #mariowiki will result in a kick and/or ban. No discriminatory actions. Making racist, sexist, or discriminatory comments and/or actions towards your fellow chatroom members will result in a kick and/or ban. No user-created bots. Creating bots in #mariowiki will result in an immediate ban and the elimination of said bot. OP-EXCLUSIVE RULES No power abuse. Using Op powers against regulation will result in demotion as well as a kick and/or ban. No slacking. Extreme inactivity, failure to enforce rules, breaking rules, and recklessness will result in demotion as well as the possibility of a kick and/or ban. Remember: the chatroom is a privilege, [b]not a right[/b]. Failure to abide by these rules will result in punishment. Now, go out there and have some good, clean fun!

Channel Operators (identified by the @ next to their name on the wiki's applet) are in place to kick or ban unruly users. Sysops, Bureaucrats, and other trusted users will be allowed operator status.
