Chiboboes are Goomba-like creatures that reside in Sarasaland, or at least formerly resided there during the events of Super Mario Land. Chiboboes slowly tromp to the side, waiting to hit Mario. Their similar attack pattern is probably due to the fact that they are smaller cousins of the Goomba (according to an official Nintendo Power magazine). Once stomped, they awarded Mario with 100 points.
It should be noted, however, that the American version of Super Mario Land was rushed to completion, and therefore enemy names were left mostly untranslated (if not entirely untranslated). Due to this, Chibiboes are more than likely true Goombas, whose Japanese name is Kuribo. Chibi in Japanese essentially means tiny, so there's a chance that Chibiboes are in actuality Micro Goombas.
