Smash and Crab is a 1-vs.-3 minigame appearing in Super Mario Party. Its name is a pun on "smash and grab."
Introduction
The solo player is standing on a pier, looking from side to side. Rumbling sounds are heard and the screen shakes. A giant mechanical crab with the team inside it charges in from the right side, scaring the solo player. The players controlling the hammers press their buttons, causing both hammers to smash around the solo player, who jumps. The minigame then starts.
Gameplay
The minigame is set on a beach. The solo player is standing on a pier, while the team players are inside a giant robotic crab that looks like a Sidestepper. While one team player moves the robot, the other two control their respective hammers to crush the solo player, who can also move around. If the solo player manages to evade the team players' attacks for 30 seconds, the solo player wins; otherwise, if a hammer hits the solo player, the team players win.
On Challenge Road, this is the first challenge of Mushroom Beach and the 22nd challenge overall. In the normal challenge, the player is one of the teammates who controls the movements of the crab robot, and they must beat the solo player. In the Master Challenge, the player is on the solo side and must stay until the end.
Ending
If the solo player wins, they do their victory animation while the crab falls over. If the team players win, the crab does a victory dance, and then the camera fades out and back in to the team players (now out of the crab) doing their victory animations.
