With his major update, RAP did also remove the Wario Characters (expect of Rudy the Clown) and many of the Super Smash Bros. Characters. Does that mean that they should also get their own list articles? As regards to the Wario Characters, I already created a list for them (not complete, but at least for the characters who already have an article), which I could just upload. What do you recommend? --Grandy02 14:23, 21 June 2007 (EDT) | With his major update, RAP did also remove the Wario Characters (expect of Rudy the Clown) and many of the Super Smash Bros. <strike>It has come to my attention that someone named Npguttery attempted to remove non-game characters from this article. As a result, he/she got blocked for doing that. However, I'm starting to think that non-game characters should have their own category. Instead of using "Characters" to display every character, we could split it into "Game Characters" and "Non-Game Characters", so that we can separate the characters who don't appear in video games from the characters that do. | <strike>It has come to my attention that someone named Npguttery attempted to remove non-game characters from this article. Characters or Enemies
Should we try to move generic enemies from the characters section to the enemies or species section? Generic baddies are not really characters. --son.of.suns@gmail.com 14:40, 29 April 2006 (EDT)
- I agree. But besides enemies, there are some non-enemy generic species on the list too (such as the Pianta).
- Dodoman
Naming
There should be two links for characters with a popular name and proper name
- Bowser - King Bowser
- Big Bob-omb - King Bob-omb
- Daisy - Princess Daisy
I follow your logic, but this opens a can of worms. To wit:
- Mario
- Racoon Mario
- Caped Mario
- Fire Mario
- Frog Mario
- Hammer Bro Mario
- Space Mario
...etc.
As a side note, I almost missed this post. Please add comments or ideas about the Character page to the Talk:Characters page.
anyone looking for mario would not look up racoon mario. however somone looking for bowser could easily miss king bowser. P.S. racoon mario is a character varition not another word for mario. i think there should be a page with all the character variations.
You have a point. Tell you what, let's replace King Bowser with just Bowser (seeing as that is the name most people will look for).
As for character variations, how about we add those to the character page itself.
IE: Bowser's character page, then a subsections that look something like this:
Aliases
- King Bowser
- King Koopa

Character Information
I think that each character's description should have a list of all the games they have appeared in at the bottom, sort of like:
Main Appearances
(Games that they have actually been in)
Cameos
(Games that they are shown in, but just for fun, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee's trophies)
Also, does anyone else think that character descriptions from game manuals could be added when possible?

Okay, but could you also vote for one of the two Wario options? --Grandy02 13:36, 25 June 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks, the poll is clear, so I readded the characters. --Grandy02 12:28, 27 June 2007 (EDT)
Bowser Bones...
Does anyone think we should make a seperate article for Bowser Bones? I mean, he's the same person as Bowser, but then again, Mario doesn't share an article with Raccoon Mario or Mega Mario, right? Dodo
The name of "Bowser Bones" is relly Dry Bowser like Dry Bones. That is if you are talking about the boss from NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. in world 8 casle ( not the big bowser casle, but the regulre one )
We used to have an article on it, though it was redirected or something. -- Sir Grodus
We used to have a separate one, but Son of Suns (talk) merged it.Knife (talk) 22:33, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
There should be another separate article for Bowser Bones, because he & Bowser have completely different aspects & abilities. take New Super Mario Bros. for example, sending Bowser into the lava after the battle in the final castle in the first world, He gains two abilities by becoming Bowser Bones: He can now throw bones & can jump higher. -- Mario Finale
- You're a little late. :) We split them in light of Mario Kart Wii, I believe. Check out Dry Bowser. Stumpers! 00:31, 12 December 2008 (EST)
Characters v. Mario Characters
Just a quick question: am I the only person who looked at this article as a listing of all characters? I'm worried about new users who might not know that the article is really only about Mario and Yoshi characters, not DK ones. Stumpers! 11:20, 29 February 2008 (EST)
- Not be forgotten that it also covers the Wario characters. --Grandy02 12:10, 29 February 2008 (EST)
- ":Wait wait wait, this page says a list of "Mario" characters, however, it has other characters such as Link or Fox. They have NO relation to Mario, unless you count the SSB series. So why are they conisdered "Mario" characters? uper-Yoshi
- Exactly - it's a mess. Of course people are going to be confused and put characters from other series in here because they don't know that characters suddenly means Mario characters. Stumpers! 13:53, 29 August 2008 (EDT)
- I'd actually also prefer to have all characters in one list rather than separating the Donkey Kong characters. Several Donkey Kong characters have appeared in Mario games (I don't think the same can be said about the Wario ones). --Grandy02 10:45, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Segregation
Why are the video game characters treated separately from non-game characters? --Marcelagus (T • C • E)
- That's a hangover from the time when we separated video game appearances from appearances in "other media". Actually, that should be fixed. Time Questions 13:30, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

Add the Gender information about the characters please
As I checked many other of NIWA's Wikis which include profiles about the characters they included a gender info such as SmashWiki,Inkipedia,Pikipedia, etc. but not this wiki, add the gender in each of characters' profiles as the only stats are:Full Name,Species,First Appearance and Latest Appearance(Only on characters that have appeared in 2 or more games).
Do you agree?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by ブリシツ (talk).
- I don't. Gender is superfluous information, and the list is already large as it is. The name and first game appearance is already good enough. This is meant to be a simple list of characters, and I don't see how adding these information would enhance navigation, which is the sole purpose of this list. If you're dying to know a characters' gender, look it up on their article. Many characters here don't even have an assigned gender (hell, Audience is on here, there's no gender on that.) BTW, please sign your comments. Ray Trace(T|C) 14:56, 10 November 2015 (EST)
Boo
Currently Boo is a non-existent link due to an incorrect link, I would fix it myself but I guess I need to wait to be auto-confirmed CappyThrow (talk) 13:53, 20 December 2018 (EST)
- It's a page meant for a separate Mario Party Advance character, though it looks to be the only MPA character without a page. 21:30, 19 December 2018 (EST)
Missing dashes
Mikhail S. Gorbachev and Stuffy the 64th are missing a dash between the name and their source.

- The page is unprotected; you're free to make the changes yourself. Mario JC 19:29, March 26, 2020 (EDT)

Separate Franchises
I understand that Sonic was in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series, but shouldn't there be a separate section for characters that are from other games/franchises but are featured in Mario games (e.g. Mario Sports Mix, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics) I was coming here to get a random character and then put it in my drawing, although Sonic characters keep popping up. I'm guessing people like to come on the Mario Wiki for information, and the fact that there are characters from other franchises could be confusing.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 1Oaktree2 (talk).
- This is meant to purely be an alphabetical list of all characters that appear in the Mario franchise. Mario JC 06:12, March 9, 2021 (EST)
- Yes, I know that they appear in the games but I want the ones that are specifically Mario Characters, and not characters that have been in crossovers User:1Oaktree2
- Then you'll have to follow the navigation at the Mario characters category. (T|C) 05:51, March 11, 2021 (EST)

Latest appearance in the character infobox
The title in the "Latest appearance" section of the character infobox denotes their most recent appearance in a Mario-related media. Do we put only original video game titles and no other media, such as TV shows or comics? Juju1995 (talk) 00:37, December 26, 2022 (EST)
- I believe we do count those for infoboxes; once the movie releases we should have that for latest appearances. Nightwicked Bowser 05:13, December 26, 2022 (EST)

WHY ARNT THEY HERE
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Princepoyo (talk).
- I've added the minis introduced in Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge since so far they're the only ones to have been shown as being individual characters, rather than part of a series of identical toys. Cursed Mini Mario is more of a state, and the other toys are already covered by the list of species. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:03, January 20, 2023 (EST)
