Trivia

The Trivia for this section is really useless why not just put "Mario's gloves look like every other stinking white glove" should the trivia be removed? Mario riding YoshiXzelionETC

I think it should. Full Metal MoogleKirbyWalk.gif

Image

Alright, I laughed at the SSBB glove, but can't we get some image from Luigi's mansion in here instead? Beacause that glove technically has Mario's hand still in it. :P But seriously, we need a better image. BLOC PARTIER.

Yes, it would be nice if we got a Luigi's Mansion image instead. The glove ain't as important in Brawl. Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions)·

Talk Page Proposal: Delete and/or Merge Mario's Glove with Luigi's Mansion and Clothing

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome Alright, this article does not deserve to exist. It serves no puropse to the wiki; it's Snufit Ball all over again. Who's up for doing something about it? Should it be deleted, merged with another article, or should we do nothing, and let this useless article continue to exist?

Proposer: Toad85 (talk)
Deadline: August 26, 2011, 23:59 GMT

Delete the Article

  1. Toad85 (talk): Useless article. Per my own proposal.

Merge with Luigi's Mansion and/or Clothing

Do Nothing

  1. Goomba's Shoe15 (talk) it's a key item that plays a significant role in the plot of Luigi's Mansion so like all key items it gets an article
  2. Smileymiley5001 (talk)See comments.
  3. Yoshiwaker (talk) - Per GS15.
  4. Reddragon19k (talk) Per all 3!
  5. Tails777 (talk) Per Goomba's Shoe15
  6. Walkazo (talk) - Per GS15.
  7. Supremo78 (talk) - Per GS15.
  8. Magikrazy51 (talk) Nice try, but no cigar. Per awesome Sky Land item/deranged middle Koopaling.

Comments

This would mean merging Mario's Cap, Mario's Letter, Mario's Star, and Mario's Shoe with Luigi's Mansion, which per Goomba's Shoe15, is not what we normally do, unless you want to start a bigger proposal to merge all key items with their respective title's page.Smileymiley5001 (talk)

Wasn't there already a proposal similar to this? Mpeng (talk)

@Mpeng It's highly likely. Smileymiley5001 (talk)

Talk:Mario's Shirt and Talk:Mario's Overalls, except there, they were merged because they have nothing of note except "Mario wears them." --Reversinator 09:11, 15 August 2011 (EDT)
Is there anything of note here? I have yet to see it. Toad85 (talk)
What do you mean? As in, reasons to keep this article? --Reversinator 14:52, 18 August 2011 (EDT)
Yeah, I think that's what he means. Either way, I'm wondering that myself. Bowser's luma (talk)
I mean as in things of note, other than "Mario wears them", and "Luigi finds them". Many people have noted something along the lines of "they are an key item", but it does not say this anywhere in the article or anywhere else I have seen. Toad85 (talk)
Luigi's Mansion, they're a required collectible item and they're part of the plot. That makes it a key item. That means we keep the article. --Reversinator 12:48, 24 August 2011 (EDT)

Origin of Mario's glove

The trivia point says that Shigeru Miyamoto and Iwata claim to give Mario white gloves to make his movements easier to read, but in the original Donkey Kong, he's not wearing gloves, not in the sprites and not in the original cabinet art. It was apparently during localization that Mario was given gloves, with the artist Zavier Leslie Cabarga claiming (on a Facebook wall in May 2015) that he's the one who put the white gloves, having experience making vintage western animation and modeling Mario after Popeye.
