The Silhouettes

I can see Bowser's horns and head in the black silhouettes. Should we mark it? --Super Ultra Maker Power Mega Sugar Meme Wario Monkey And Knucklescube Cast Ultimate Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch, new Funky Mode! (talk) 05:22, 9 March 2018 (EST)

And I see Donkey Kong's hair. And I believe the Ice Climbers are right next to him. But that I can't say for sure. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:45, 9 March 2018 (EST)
Thanks. --Super Ultra Maker Power Mega Sugar Meme Wario Monkey And Knucklescube Cast Ultimate Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch, new Funky Mode! (talk) 05:22, 9 March 2018 (EST)

Hey, hold on; I'm not sure what others think, but maybe we shouldn't put this on the actual article until it's officially confirmed. Yes I agree that these silhouettes exist and are these characters, but I don't like putting on things til they're officially confirmed.

Moving article

Should this be moved to Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018? The title and secripition of this video: [[1]] make it look like this is the oficial name. Blue Yoshi from Yoshi's Story Yoshi Egg 1990 Red Yoshi holding a Bumber 'Chute

Inklings aren't listed as veterans, and the invitational is the event, not the name of the game itself. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:15, 4 June 2018 (EDT)

Echo Fighter

Hey, I was sleeping when this was announced, can someone please put on the page whatever on earth an "echo fighter" is? Is that like a moveset clone or something? And is this message gonna actually load this time? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:48, 12 June 2018 (EDT)

I have added something temporary. It doesn't look good, but it still tells us what a echo character is. Somebody who knows how to edit that should do so. User:FireFlower

Stages

GameXplain started a mini "analysis machine", which lists all the stages they saw in the Smash Ultimate part of the E3 Direct and the Character trailers in the official website. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsBjEXlqGXY

Amiibo

I found information that "This game supports all of the Amiibo of the Fighters, even if they are from another series", on [[2]] (It's on Spanish) but i don't know where to put the information. Blue Yoshi from Yoshi's Story Yoshi Egg 1990 Red Yoshi holding a Bumber 'Chute 08:37, 19 June 2018 (EDT)

It was confirmed during E3 that all amiibo would be compatible. I'll see if I can find the English video here soon. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 08:54, 19 June 2018 (EDT)

Missing Items

In the Super Smash Bros Ultimate website, if you go to the "About" tab and then scroll down, you see some sort of grid of items, assist trophies, and Pokemon. That grid has the Franklin Badge and the Screw Attack in it, yet they're not shown in the items list. Can someone please add them? 24.6.217.5 19:49, 22 June 2018 (Can you please tell me what "EDT" means? I'm guessing it means edit.)

I've added them, thanks for the catch. EDT is part of the timestamp in the signature and stands for Eastern Daylight Time. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:02, 22 June 2018 (EDT)

Missing stages

There are some stages that appear in the backgrounds of some fighters in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate website but don't appear in the stages list in this game, as shown by GameXplain. The links to the videos that show those stages are https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ81QsJqLA4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gF-yNJJOUWU. The stages are Brinstar, Venom, Jungle Japes, Reset Bomb Forest, and Palutena's Temple. 24.6.217.5 aka 2601:647:4701:5586 16:54, 3 July 2018 (PDT)

Also, Battlefield and Final Destination shouldn't be listed as returning stages, as some people consider all the Battlefields and Final Destinations from the different games to be different stages and SmashWiki lists them as new stages.

24.6.217.5 21:39, 3 July 2018 (PDT)

Okay, they've been added. As for Battlefield and FD, it's tricky to categorise those (they have new designs, but they're not unfamiliar stages either), but the list is just temporary until we know the final stage order, and they are technically originally from the first Smash Bros. GCN

Can someone add the GCN Controller to be a usable controller? I can't get it working so far. TheIceCream (talk) 09:08, 17 November 2018 (EST)

Classic Mode

First of all, it's not very prudent to add a table that's 95% empty (and up to 85% empty even if we add what information we know from videos). It's better to wait until the game is released and then add this information. Besides, it takes up way too much space and the format could use improvements. For example, the bonus round looks to be identical between characters, so why would this need a column? It's also ironic that the most unique part of the mode - the names of each route - don't even have a space on this table. This needs to be refined before we publish this onto the main page. For now, the coding has been moved to my Talk page. MarioComix (talk) 19:38, 22 November 2018 (EST)

I personally think each character should get a small table on their own pages, rather than one big one on the game page. Something like this:
Classic Mode route
Let's-a Go!
Round Opponents Stage
1 Link, Zelda Great Plateau Tower
2 Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede Green Greens
3 Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong Kongo Falls
4 ? ?
5 Marth, Chrom, Ike Coliseum
6 Bowser Jr., Koopalings Peach's Castle
Final Bowser / Giga Bowser Final Destination

(Taken from this video.) Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:54, 22 November 2018 (EST)
That makes it a lot less cluttered and makes more sense. Maybe add one more column to add the rules (Stock or Stamina, Free-for-All or Horde, etc.). MarioComix (talk) 01:28, 23 November 2018 (EST)

Adding Pages for Leaked Bosses/Content

Should I do that now? I've added any remaining bosses to the navbox that weren't there already (based on Smash Wiki's article on the game), but I'm not sure the best way to proceed with some of them. Is there a generic bosses article for the ones that probably don't deserve a page for themselves, like Marx? Should Ganon be included with Ganondorf's article?

And does Dharkon need an article now, given Galeem has one?

Cheat-master30 (talk) 20:57, 29 November 2018 (GMT)

I'd heard not to specifically include leak information, so... MarioComix (talk) 16:40, 29 November 2018 (EST)
They would get their own pages, but I say wait until release date. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:42, 29 November 2018 (EST)
Not sure there's any real reason to wait. We covered leaked info for Super Mario Odyssey, Paper Mario Color Splash, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on 3DS, etc. Why change now?

Cheat-master30 (talk) 20:57, 29 November 2018 (GMT)

Add how the spirits mode work

How the spirits, the scheme of being fighting a puppet, that is possessed by a spirit, so you'll be fighting the puppet, but sometimes the spirit itself appears by some seconds and disappear. OK, I'm really confused. It is not well-explained in the article. --DyeffersonAz Signature (talk) 11:52, 9 December 2018 (EST)

WikiBound NIWA Link

Hi I'm Supatoad64 from WikiBound and SmashWiki. I just wrote a SSB Ultimate article on WikiBound so should we add a link in the NIWA section?Supatoad64 (talk) 04:14, June 17, 2019 (EDT) Sorry for the bump. Anyone here? Supa Toad 64, The Best Signiture icon 20:18, June 22, 2019 (EDT)

Yes you can add the link in the NIWA template. You do not need to ask permission for this, as it is standard to link every NIWA article of the same subject in the NIWA template. Thanks for the inquiry! Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 20:25, June 22, 2019 (EDT)

Fifth or sixth game?

I need an answer to this: Is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the fifth Smash game, or the sixth? Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are officially grouped by Nintendo as Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, thus suggesting they are indeed, the fourth game in the series. The Smash community - as well as the gaming community as a whole - refers to them as Super Smash Bros. 4 and SSB4. Heck, even if our wiki doesn't accept these shorthands, we still end up using them in categories and templates for navigations. Where am I going with this? Well, even though both versions have identical rosters of playable characters, they were both released on different dates - albeit in the same year - and have differences in many areas, such as: graphics/gameplay resolution, game modes, trophy descriptions, and even knockback values for characters' attacks. The 3DS version supports up to 6 players playing together and has a much smaller soundtrack than the Wii U version; this is vice-versa for the Wii U version, which can support 8 players. The 3DS version was released before the Wii U version; in SmashWiki's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate article, the introductory paragraph says: "This is the fifth (sixth if counting both versions of Smash 4 as separate games) game in the Super Smash Bros. series." Should I completely go along with it being the fifth game? MarioManiac1981 (talk) 18:47, July 22, 2019 (EST)

Last I checked Sakurai called it the 6th game. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:51, July 22, 2019 (EDT)

That explains it then. Physical copies take up much less space since the data for the game is on the cartridge, whereas when you download from the eShop the entire game is stored on your Switch. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:54, August 29, 2019 (EDT)

Table for Fighters

Since it says up the top of the page "rewritten and expanded", and "as well as character descriptions", it makes me think if we should replace the simple pictures for each fighter for a comprehensive table listing each fighter with their render, number, series, specials, Final Smash, and official description.

Ideally, I'd rather see a table closer to the one we use for Smash 4 (and maybe apply this to the other Smash games so we have some consistency). Having the fighters be in rows in the same table doesn't allow for any distinction between fighter types like we have now. Also, if we don't have enough fighters to have exactly 4 in each row, there's the potential for it to look somewhat ugly at the end because there would be blank spaces, and DLC could mess this up further since we don't know how many we're getting at this point. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 19:39, November 21, 2019 (EST)
In that case, here's a small Smash 4 version of the table to be more consistent:
