This is a list of Mario-related sightings and references in theater.

The Mario Opera

In May of 2005, a group at the California Institute of the Arts performed the first act of an opera based on Super Mario Bros. The first act began with the wedding of Mario and Peach, which is disrupted by Bowser and the Koopas. Peach is carried away, and Mario must search for her. However, Mario has no desire to be a hero, and doesn't understand why all this responsibility must fall to him. Moreover, he is unable to reconcile his morality with his uncontrolable urge to kill. The second and third acts are being written.

The music is all based on themes from Mario games (SMB 1, 2, 3, SML, SMW, Yoshi's Island)

Music and Story: Jonathan Mann
Director: Jeremy Schwartz
