12 Days of 'Shroom Christmas

Seasons greetings, all you readers and listeners! We're a bit late getting this special section published, aren't we?

"12 Days of 'Shroom Christmas" is a song that was conceived and written by Crocodile Dippy (talk), and then composed and mixed by myself, Stooben Rooben (talk). The idea was to create as unorthodox a Christmas song as possible. After juggling various songwriting possibilities around, Dippy eventually suggested a circus-oriented track that homages all of The 'Shroom's current, hard-working staff. Despite me having very little prior knowledge regarding circus music (except for that "Scaretale" chiptune, which was my first foray into such genres and scales), I found the proposed idea very creative and jumped on it.

The song itself almost did not see realization, though. My computer's hard drive failed during the middle of recording audio last week, leaving me with no way to record more until the 24th of December. Since then, Dippy and I have put an enormous amount of nonstop work into seeing this song completed, even forgoing fun, family, relaxation, and entire nights of sleep just to get the project done. That's what being a musician is all about, though: not sleeping.

Well, that's only partially true. It's also about doing everything you can to please your fans or potential listeners. And that's exactly what we've tried to do here, because you all deserve an entertaining song. The song is chock full of lyrical references and musical acknowledgements to The 'Shroom staff, and the many circumstances and jokes we've all found ourselves being a part of. Regardless of our extremely pressing time constraints, this ended up being a very enjoyable project to work on. I'm glad it's finally finished, though! Both Dippy and myself hope you all enjoy the goofy-if-bizarre final product, we put a lot of affection into making it.

Just try to run, he’ll catch up in one bound
His clever death traps will make you collapse
Our dear evil genius, Shoey, don't give a craps

Day 6 is outdoors, for he fills the whole room!
His hunger is endless, he once ate the 'Shroom
But cuddly he be, no reason to flee
He's all fun and games, yes, Palkia is he!

Day 8 is for the ladies, he'll weaken your knees
He benchpresses dragons with the greatest of ease
Don't heed just his pants, for his brain's sure not scant
This Yoshi keeps records of our lovely courant

But she shoots not bullets — it'll make you scream "WHY?!"

Bring telescopes for day 10, this clown is so small
His tapestry of puns is sure to enthrall
With a tactical mind, his advice is sublime
But just hear his riffs! They are so confined

Look up on day 11, this bird always looms
An avian so regal, with mathematic plume
Brain like a circuit board, always records

This puppy's immortal, no beast he sees foe
He graces our lives, so our show will survive
With Lord Poochy, our saviour, we'll forever thrive!
