Tuff Puffs are weaker versions of Ruff Puffs knocked off from Huff N' Puff in Paper Mario. The Tuff Puffs provide backup while Huff N. Puff is battling Mario and his comrades, and attack collectively as one unit by draining 2 HP from Mario. The player must repeatedly tap the A button to tear them off, similar to the action command for the Jungle Fuzzy. In addition, Huff N. Puff can suck them back up, and restore 1 HP for every small Tuff Puff and 2 HP for every large Tuff Puff; They are defeated automatically when Huff N. Puff is defeated.
The name Tuff Puff is based on "Tough Puff". Tuff Puffs do not make a reapperance in the sequel to Paper Mario called Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. This is because Huff N' Puff does not appear in the game.
