| '''Rupees''' are the currency in [[zeldawiki:Hyrule|Hyrule]], resembling diamonds, that originate from the ''[[ZeldaWiki:The Legend of Zelda (series)|The Legend of Zelda]]'' series. They are the equivalent to the [[coin]]s often collected in the [[Mario (series)|Mario series]]. They play a role in the [[Hyrule Circuit]] course purchased in the first ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' DLC pack, ''[[The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8]]''. Rupees can be obtained from [[Item Box]]es exclusively in the Hyrule Circuit courses, and are scattered throughout the track, replacing coins found in all the other tracks. The Rupees that replace the coins give the players a small boost and increase top speed when more are collected, up to a max of 10.
