Split Into Two Separate Categories

People love it when things are easy to get to and when they can get information quickly. That's why I want this category to be split into two: one for doctors and one for scientists.

I absolutely love fictional doctors, so I once went on here to find some more besides Dr. Mario and Dr. Toadley (this was before Dr. Luigi was canon, by the way). However, this was also mixed with scientists, so I had to randomly click on all the links to find somebody who was actually a doctor. It's confusing when you're in a category and you can't find exactly what you're looking for.

I know scientists are sometimes referred to as, "Dr.", but when we think of doctor, we do not think of Bill Nye the Science Guy. I suggest splitting this category into two so people will not bang their head on the keyboard because they're writing a Mario fanfiction and they need a doctor besides Dr. Mario.

Support

  1. Madz the Penguin (talk) Per my proposal
  2. Toadbrigade5 (talk) Per proposal: Evidence of necessity: Dr. E Gadd isn't a doctor. So yeah split.

OK OK, but Madz, fix something please: On the proposals you formatted it incorrectly and Mario Wiki:Proposals is a part of the doctor's category. FIX IT!!! Toadbrigade5 (talk) 23:15, 8 November 2014 (EST)

I fixed it! Wow, when I figured that out, it was scary. I thought I messed up so badly, I'll get in trouble on here. Oh well, at least that page isn't a doctor anymore. Why do I feel like Ashley right now? Madz the Penguin (talk) 23:22, 8 November 2014 (EST)
You're not going to get in trouble. :P Everyone makes honest mistakes like that from time to time. Fill a chill pill! Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 23:57, 8 November 2014 (EST)

@Proposal: What exactly are you going to split it into? I'd suggest renaming the title to something else because all of these people share something in common, that they're people working in white-collar-like professions. Doctors and Scientists, of course! We need to separate them, because even if they are called, "Dr.", scientists are not doctors. They are highly educated people, but they study different things. Doctors go to medical school for three years plus another three years of internship. Scientists, depending on their studies, do not go to medical school; they take different classes that teach them what they need to learn. So, Dr. Mario does not have a similar job to E. Gadd; their lives are different, and they study different things.

Oh, and a chill pill! *puts pill in a bottle full of viruses, and it starts a chain reaction where all the viruses are destroyed* Thank you so much for the help! Madz the Penguin (talk) 00:07, 9 November 2014 (EST)

I'd like "Doctors and professors" maybe... even if the name does sound kind of overlappy. But look at the opening sentence of this category, heh ("...or simply those characters that are named with the title "Doctor" or "Professor". "). And, lol, nice one. It's probably chill viruses in there, heehee. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:25, 9 November 2014 (EST)
Doctors and professors? I prefer them getting separated. I didn't have to click on random links in the birds category to find another penguin, because there's a penguin category already. That should be the same with doctors and professors.
Oh, and I got the bottle from Dr. Toadley. Yeah, he was coughing in a bottle, and I saw Blue Viruses in there. Thanks to you, they're all gone! What is that Toad hiding? Oh well... Madz the Penguin (talk) 01:05, 9 November 2014 (EST)
Oh, you're welcome. man. The Toad is going to be okay, don't worry about him not Ebola for sure. The penguin category is already a subcategory of birds; there are enough penguins in the Mario series so the separate category is created to prevent cluttering the bird category. And it's been established here that the lines between doctor and professor can be blurred sometimes, so I'd still advocate a rename than an actual split. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. Yeah, I think he just has a cold. The only problem is that Birdley is overprotecting him after he figured out Dr. Toadley caught a cold. Oh Birdley, when can I put him in the cage again?
How are professors and doctors almost the same thing? Albert Einstein didn't cure diseases, and he's a professor. Even if there are few doctors in the Mario series, we need a split. Professors and doctors are similar, but not the same, just like policemen and lawyers. Madz the Penguin (talk) 16:33, 9 November 2014 (EST)

I feel like "Scientists" would make sense as the second category, since then people won't get hung up on overlapping titles, and just focus on the professions (with any theoretical PhDs of Philosophy or English or whatever getting kicked out entirely and placed in neither). Plus, any scientist characters without doctorates could also go in there, when currently, there's nothing for them. - Walkazo 17:52, 9 November 2014 (EST)

Is anyone going to Support or Oppose? Only Toad Brigade and I voted, and if this has less than 3 votes, it won't pass. Madz the Penguin (talk) 20:37, 9 November 2014 (EST)

I don't know the course of action in this proposal yet. Split it into two categories? Although you did explain what those categories are in the comments, maybe you should split it into "Doctors" and "Scientists"... Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS.
