Tadpoles are the younger forms of the frogs that appear in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. For a while, Mallow thought that he was a Tadpole, as he was raised as one by Frogfucius, and he grew up with other Tadpoles. However, Mallow turned out to be a cloud creature from Nimbus Land.
The Tadpoles were visited by Mario and Mallow at Tadpole Pond, where the hero met Frogfucius. The Tadpoles mainly serve as a bridge to allow Mario to cross over the pond. A pair of Tadpoles started shops in the western part of Tadpole Pond. One made a Frog Coin Emporium, while the other started a Juice Bar. Both sell rare and helpful items sold nowhere else in the game.
A Tadpole named Glower also appeared as an Animal Buddy ally to Donkey Kong and company in Donkey Kong 64, although the fact that Tadpoles are indeed animals in the Real World makes it most likely that Glower has no relation at all to the Super Mario RPG Tadpoles.
